Is anyone on this site going to be watching this Giants versus Rangers World Series? Sure the "World" part might not make a lot of sense but what can we do? Anyway I'm hoping the Giants win this series and I'm hoping it goes seven games. The series hasn't gone seven since 2002 when Bonds' Giants were up by five runs with eight outs to go and managed to let the Angels come back. Anyway, I got to go as the first game is about to start. The Lincecum and Lee match up looks like it should be great.

Let's go Giants! The NL FINALLY has home field.

I hope SF wins too, but because I'm a Yankees fan!

Don't care much who wins, although it's good to see some new blood in there, and the series should be exciting. Hopefully the Reds make it next year.:thumbup1:

They just mentioned this during the broadcast, thought it was kind of funny...

Giants have this, and every other game in the WS, in the bag. I mean, they've got a great defense tonight, and their offense hasn't been bad either. (I'd say maybe a little above average seeing how they got that great homer from Uribe.) GO GIANTS!!!

I'm glad to see that so far everyone is for the Giants. They haven't won since they moved to San Francisco.

communard71 - I see you want revenge. I must say I'm glad the Yankees lost this time. They just got dominated in almost every way in the ALCS. I think they're lucky to have avoided a sweep.

apawllo - I felt sorry for the Reds this year. They got a really tough really tough matchup against the Phillies. I was hoping they could at least win one at home like Milwaukee did in 08 after their long playoff drought. I think the Reds will be good for the next few years. Volquez looked good down the stretch (except for game 1) and Leake should be back. Chapman looks like he'll be a star too. I actually visited Cincinnati for the first time this year and watched them play the Brewers on the big screen in Fountain Square.

Nin - Don't get too ahead of yourself. I'm not so sure this will be a sweep. That being said it was impressive to see them hit Lee. We'll see if they can get to C.J Wilson tonight.

Yeah, got to. Only time I catch baseball is the playoffs. That longhaired kid looks like he's not unfamiliar with desert botany but if he can deliver like he has then let him roll. Giants in seven.

Yeah, realistically it probably won't be a sweep, but seeing how they handled Cliff Lee last night was just amazing. I was a little worried about the Giants and Cliff being the head pitcher, but they showed him real good. Especially Uribe with that homer to the Left Field Stands. All my friends who were watching it with me, including myself, jumped up in our seats (at home) when he hit that. Almost brought a tear to my eye. :p I just want to see what the Giants do with Matt Cain.

Tim Lincecum is pretty badass with his pitching skills. Pissed me off when the Rangers knocked him in the legs, getting called off the pitching mound.

It's all been bullshit since the Dodgers left Brooklyn.

I watched a couple innings of last night's game. I can't say I'm really that into it, because I'm a Phillies fan, but I'd like to see the Giants take it.

Yeah, Lincecum got cited for marijuana possession. Clearly he's got great stuff, though I can't say I was happy about his performance in game 1 of the NLCS.

That was a tough draw for sure. The Reds would have had trouble with anyone though. I'm a believer in the sentiment that they were a year ahead of schedule, and have no reason not to expect more of the same next year but with more experienced players. The team definitely lacks that elite starting pitcher that championship teams need though. I'm hoping that the Reds make a trade for someone with a manageable salary like Zack Greinke who could potentially be a number 1 guy come playoff time.

Anyhow, looks like we have a pitchers duel tonight!

Man, did the Giants shut the Rangers down tonight! Caine was on fire tonight! But I'm betting Texas will win on Saturday, (just so they don't cry fowl or something.) But for sure the Giants will win it all in the end.

redsky - Just wondering why do you only watch the playoffs?

RED DAVE - It's all been downhill since the Giants left with the Dodgers, they have no World Series victories since those they left. It's a 55 year drought.

graymouser - I know what you mean. It's rough to see your team get knocked out in the LCS. It makes it hard to watch the championship. When the Mets lost to the Cardinal in game 7 of the NLCS at home in 2006 it was so hard for me to watch the World Series. I just kept thinking that the Mets could have beaten the Tigers too.

apawllo - I really like Volquez, Cueto, Leake, and Arroyo but I do see the need for an elite pitcher. Greinke might not be the answer, he wasn't exceptional this year, he was very average. I think the Reds still need to worry about the Cardinals. I'm pretty sure they'll be better next year. I can't believe they faded like they did with Wainwright, Pujols, Holliday, and Carpenter.

Nin - Things are looking good for the Giants! I still don't see a sweep but they only need to win 2/5 now.

I suppose it's the fact that there are so many games. The energy is so spread out (as opposed to the NFL and even, for me, soccer) that it's hard to maintain an elevated involvement. And, unlike the territorial acquisition sports, there's no fighting a clock. Maybe it's like good wine or 80% chocolate- October's a good time to make a little go a long way. These guys are the best and there's damn good drama.

Also, I executed my television six years ago.

I don't know what would be better? Allow the Rangers to win tomorrow night and take the game to SF, and then have the Giants beat them out for good. Making them go home with their tails between their legs, or just knock them off at their home, making the loss even more of a heartache?

Either way, GO GIANTS!!!!

Nin- I had the same feelings. The bay would be so approporiate but let's look forthe kill now, and they will. It's baseball, and in a way tougher than football. But yes, either way. Triumph has often not been pretty. A big secular amen.

You can't help but watch it in the Bay Area. I like to hate on the Giants, but I am rooting for them this time. The games have been more exciting than I expected and I was shocked by the high scoring of the first games.

Are you one of the few A's fans? I think the whole nation was shocked by that game.

A glorious victory over Cliff Lee. I can't believe his ERA was 6.94 in the series. He didn't pitch poorly last night he just made that one mistake. The Rangers offense was so terrible they only batted .190. Josh Hamilton was 2 for 20! I can't believe the Giants did it in 5.

I should have totally put down money against my friends on this game. I would have won tons of money... (Expropriate from the rich anyone? :D)

If I bet on yesterday's game I would have bet on Cliff Lee and the Rangers to win. I wonder what the odds were. They were probably pro-Rangers.

I saw some mini riot footage on TV. It looked pretty crazy but not as wild as my experiences in Philadelphia in 2008.
