Good Afternoon comrades and people's of the world;

I am taking suggestions for what to write my 15 page research paper on, the topic is for Latin American Revolutions.

I have no problem writing 15 pages of researched material, but if I pick a topic totally by myself it will be inundated with my personal viewpoints and Marxist talking points, so even though help in choosing a topic won't stop that much, it will help.

When you think Latin American Revolutions, what topic, process, or event do you think would be interesting to research?

There are any number of topics you could take from it, but I'd say El Salvador, specifically the CIA run death squads, the El Mozote massacre, or the fact that US intervention there actually pushed the various (and often infighting) leftist factions into the arms of Fidel Castro who helped convince them to form a unified front, which in turn lead to (in all probability) a more protracted conflict than would have probably otherwise occurred.

Thanks for the idea. This is what I ended up choosing as a research topic/preliminary thesis statement:

The Salvadorian Civil War was one of the last conflicts in the context of “Cold War” diplomacy, United States intervention in El Salvador lead to scorched earth, human rights violations, and pushed fragmented leftist guerilla forces into a united front which lead to a more prolonged conflict than would have otherwise occurred and the effects of the prolonged conflict are still deeply felt today with no just compensation or accountability from those responsible.

This will be proven through qualitative research and inferential statistics. To suggest that the United States is partly responsible for the crimes against humanity in El Salvador and promoted terrorism in Central America is not a "conspiracy theory", it is an undeniable fact, based on sound reasoning and irrefutable evidence.
