Was the Russian Revolution funded by wealthy Wall Street bankers and the elite of the United States? I've read in some areas that Trotsky and Lenin were funded by the governments of the United States and others, ostensibly to overthrow the Russian czar. I'm not in the mood to go research the claims myself, but it's said that Trotsky lived on the payroll of Standard Oil and was given funding by wealthy families in the United States.*

No. If that were true, then why did the US participate in the invasion of Russia to fight alongside the white army?

No, it's not true.

I don't know if this is the original source but Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution by Anthony C Sutton, seems to be the origin of many of these claims. It's a preposterous piece of work which fails to provide reliable documentary evidence for its key assertions; whilst employing a fantastical interpretation to those facts he can muster, so they fit into his wholly imaginative hypothesis. He makes insinuation after insinuation and then smugly adds, "Of course, this is only conjecture." On the net it is hosted by the totally loopy Reformed Theology website:

At the root of this mumbo-jumbo, is the assumption that nothing can happen without the say-so and conspiracies of American capitalism.

I believe that the RSDLP got much of its funding from semi-wealthy/wealthy philanthropists. Iskra was financed by Savva Morozov (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savva_Timofeyevich_Morozov).

Germany did fund the way for Lenin into Russia, but that is all.

All industrial and banking capital of Russia was on the side of the bourgeois government.Well,if money decide everything, think how much Wall Street had to give Lenin to overcome all that capital, think, was it possible in practice.
