for a summary.
NUHW was clearly the right choice, though it was not a full-blooded alternative union model it was nonetheless superior to bureaucratic, top-down SEIU.
I was involved in this struggle, and it was clear to me in talking to people that SEIU's fear game was very effective. It's easy to scare workers in bad economic times and SEIU used this boss-favored tactic, chock-a-block with lies, up to and including siding with union-busters to campaign for "no union" at an earlier election at a facility that NUHW was winning (NUHW won anyway).
It's just another blow to whatever lingering illusions anyone might have of bureaucratic unionism.
