Google adsense takes into consideration content is in the site you are at well as the location you are at. Well, this site is political in nature, but since there is a lack of genuine left-wing adverts, we'll be getting a ton of right wing stuff because their crap is the dominant stuff flooding the networks.

Other things can come up too, if they've been mentioned on the site in some form. I've seen an advert for a restaurant in the area and even Cuban singles dating :laugh:, as well as some other sites like ancestry.com, so it may be becoming less nutty in the future.

But hey, if it's making us revenue why not? It's more amusing to me that these guys are making it possible for sites like this, they very kind of thing they despise, to keep running.

I dunno if you can see it, but it's another one of those "Brown Bailout" ads you may have seen on FailBook... I looked into it, and it's a campaign sponsored by FedEx. They claim UPS is getting "bailed out" by the US congress because of a bill which I don't think has even been passed. Apparently, according to congress, UPS's workers are covered by the National Labor Relations Act, which allows the Teamsters to organize their workers at a local level.

FedEx, on the hand, is covered by the Railroad Labor Act (since 85% of its packages are shipped by air as opposed to UPS which ships 85% by truck), which is a law specifically designed to make it more difficult for railroad and airline workers to unionize (under the act they're forced to organize at a national level rather than local) for reasons of "national security." FedEx is claiming UPS is getting "bailed out" of it's financial problems, which they say are caused by higher salaries of unionized employees, and that this amounts to unfair treatment of FedEx... As a union man I don't think I've ever heard a bigger crock of shit in my life. If anything, FedEx has been getting special treatment and this is simply leveling the playing field (and that's without saying anything about wage and benefit suppression at FedEx).

I think its great that the ads have replaced the donations, I also like the fact that my browser don't have to spend any time and space on rendering the ads.
