Hi all anarchists, I am in Lyon right now. But I heard about anarchists, and I want you to know I had the best time of my life out here in France where everything is going crazy. Me and my friend made a film and you can see how much fun we had.
This is our experience of a very legitimate French riot, right in our own town of Lyon - right on Lauren's own street, as a matter of fact. Rest assured we are both safe and sound after this experience.
I know you might all think I'm some hipster, student, whatever, but I really know what you all are talking about with some of your ideas. Enjoy our first-hand account of LES MANIFESTATIONS!!!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgMDLG0vw-4)

What's unlikable about them?
Well, it seems they're there for the thrill. They don't really comment on what the riots are about, or anything like that. It comes off a little shallow.

I dare say quite a few French kids are just there for the thrill. Probably more than quite a few, actually.

And can you blame them?

But can you really compare, I mean, the kids rebelling against an unjust educational system, that probably teaches them a curriculum they can't really relate to, because they're minorities, or working class, and a real concern for the future i.e. the thrill of revolution to the thrill of some random riot, with no historical context or political vision.

Like when the guy says,"It's my first riot," as if it's the new past time for bourgeois youth, going to these riots, then when it's all over, going back to class and finishing up your business or journalism degree, in the hopes of landing that cushy job. If all you want to do is hang out with a bunch of people in complete chaos, just go to burningman or something.

Oh believe me, I want to smash these people in the face, but at the same time, it is a thrilling experience, might as well enjoy it. That's certainly better than going like OMG MINDLESS IDIOTS DESTROYING OUR NATION!!11
