Is it a given now to use all means necessary to open markets where ever they are closed?

Have we internalized the logic of neo-liberalism so much that it looks like a humanitarian thing to tear down national borders in order to make room for investment?

14 U.S. companies that traveled to Baghdad for the first U.S. trade mission to Iraq since the end of combat operations.

"Iraq offers many business investment and commercial opportunities to U.S. firms," said Sánchez. "The Deputy Minister and I discussed our countries' economic partnership and had what I hope will be the first of many productive and engaging conversations. It is clear that Iraq is open for business."

"The American and Iraqi private sectors are rich and diverse, brimming with knowledge and a strong work ethic," Sánchez said. "The U.S. companies on this delegation will interact with the Iraqi public and private sectors, and walk away from this historic trade mission knowing what opportunities exist for them in Iraq."

Strong work ethic = cheap labor....

Mission Accomplished. Iraq is now open for business and the first imperialist battle of the new century is complete.

Yeah, it's actually kind of depressing. In the end, the U.S. won the war, and Iraq is a full-on client state.

Let's hope Afghanistan does not suffer the same fate.

Policy makers realize exactly how imperialist they are. The ones that matter realize it more than anyone here. That's the point after all.

Exactly. If someone believes we set up that mock democracy just to give them "freedom" they are moronic. America is doing the same thing it has been doing for decades in South America, destroying the country to get cheap labor. Even to this day America has para military death squads that go in and kill union workers if they dare ask for any amount of rights. It is truly disgusting.

Yeah, but I have never seen the States be so blatant. They've internalized the logic of neo-liberalism to a higher level. Imperialism is now humanitarian.

And the mass is still as ignorant as before. If a leftist group can agitate the population enough I think a revolution will be of a massive scale once people open their eyes and see what is happening. I just can't wait till that day arrives.
