Fascists Running Municipally
Youth and the People Must Unite Against Racism
In the Toronto-Danforth riding (Ward 30) - which spans from Parliament east to Coxwell, Lakeshore north to the Danforth - the fascist Nationalist Party of Canada's Jim Brookman is running for city councilor in the upcoming November 10th 2003 municipal elections.
They also have a candidate running in the Beaches-East York (Ward 31) riding. His name is Robert (or Bob) Smith.
The leader of this racist party of bigots is Don Andrews, who will be running for mayor of Toronto. Don Andrews was co-founder of the 'Western Guard' and is a supporter of Wolfgang Droege, the founder of the racist 'Heritage Front' which fortunately no longer exists.[1]
Both Don Andrews and Robert Smith were charged and convicted under Sec. 281 "Hate Bill" of the Criminal Code of Canada. They must be proud of this fact as it is displayed on the index page of their website.[2]
This same party also has a woman running for mayor in Ottawa this November. Donna Upson, 25 years old has received funding from the Klu Klux Klan to participate in the race.[3] She has been quoted as saying: "I believe you should associate with blacks, but you shouldn't live in the same neighbourhoods," & "You shouldn't date each other. That's what segregation is.".[4] Upson has been jailed for assault[5] and received a 2 year sentence 3 years ago for threats she made to Mr. Mutale, minister of Victoria Road United Baptist Church and members of his congregation.[6]
These fascists have been passing around fliers in their ridings. A first look at their flier may not reveal their true ideology - especially to those who are unfamiliar with politics in general - and may appeal to those with right wing tendencies who may not be fascist or racist.
On their fliers they call for things like: "Declare European Heritage Week" & "Demand that the City of Toronto have more input into federal immigration policies". Other things like: "Clean graffiti and vigorously prosecute graffiti perpetrators publicly" & "Hire more recruits for the understaffed police and fire departments and increase police street patrols now." seem more innocent.
But, if you visit their website - http://www.natparty.com - you can see for yourself that they proudly support Ernest Zundel and are openly racist. Zundel is a holocaust denier & author of such books as "Did 6 Million Really Die?"[7]
We are making a call out to all people of good conscious to keep an eye out for these racists and any other racist activity.
We are currently working on a counter flier to let people in these ridings know who these people
really are. If you received one of their fliers please contact us via e-mail ([email protected]) in order to help us track down what streets they have littered on. Any help, even small and seemingly unimportant details may actually be a great help so please don't hesitate to contact us.
We also plan to form a coalition that will actively oppose these individuals and host meetings in these communities in order to work closely with the people in this fight against fascism & racism.
Please join us in this fight, because only the masses of people can bring victory.
