:star: Hey everyone, I'm pretty much a brand new member to this site. I'm a member of the Socialist Party of Ireland. I'm seventeen and live in Dublin. I've been doing a lot of looking around on this site and think it's really great, however i can't help notice the divisions between us leftists, be it between Leninists, Maoists, Anarchists or whatever. I'm just a little surprised that people of the political left let these minor differences get in the way of our solidarity and revolutionary ambitions...:star:

Welcome to the site, comrade! Sectarianism is rampant, but try to ignore it if you can!

Anarchists should die! They should all eat shit and die!

Oops, I mean welcome. You will find that there is very little sectarianism on this board. There is some, and it's all started by Trotskyists.

Always nice to welcome a fellow CWI comrade on the board :)

I also agree on the sectarian problem which hinders us communists having a real impact in society. This is a multi-layered problem though which isn't easily solved. For example, the working class organisation in many countries has taken a dramatic downturn in the last few decades and as communist ranks are consisting of the best and brightist fighters of our class, we too have fallen, which in turn leads to crisis within many organisations. Only now we seem to leave to historic downward period, having fights in countries as Greece, Spain and now France leading the way for the rest of Europe!

Secondly, there is a history to deal with. For example between the Trotskyists and Stalinists. It can be overcome, but it's not likely to happen in a period of downturn.

Thirdly, there is the issue that most organisations on the revolutionary left have an unhealthy inward looking and topdown method of organisation. After all, you don't feel much inclination to stay in a group if you can't develop or express your own views. This is perhaps the stickiest problem of all in terms of overcoming it given the "traditions" involved.

That said, I'm positive we can overcome them :)

There is some, and it's all started by Trotskyists.
Tssk.
