Assaulting cops in Europe

What is the punishment for assaulting a pig(cop) in Europe? Its seems Europeans clash with the pigs a lot and don't get in trouble. In the usa its a couple years in jail or a hefty fine.

you do know that europa is not 1 country with 1 criminal code right?
anyway, here in the netherlands most demonstrators that get caught in an riot are charged with "public violence (in an group)" (articel 141 of the criminal code) its kind of an anti-hooligan article wich has the for the prosecuter the nice toutch they dont need to prove you actually did sommething, just being part of an group that uses violence and not activly distancing yourself from that group is enough te be partly guilty of the crimes commited by that group.
we dont have minimum sentences (yet) but the maximum sentences range from 4 years and 6 months in prison (if you where just in an violent group) till 12 years (if someone dies during the violence and you are responsible).
atempted manslaughter or murder (if they can pin trowing molotovs on you personaly for example) caries even heftyer sentences.
and violence against polici officials makes that the prosecuter always has to ask for an heavyer sentence than if you attacked an random member of the public.
note though that this is all maximum sentencing, most people caught at political riots get in my experience community service and propation if they cant pinn anything serious on you or up to 3 till 5 months in jail if they can.
the netherlands have an quite relaxed juridcal system, in greece or spain you get way more.
so i dont think the matter is that over here they dont cary heavy sentences, i think the point here is that we have more experience rioting, we know not to get caught, we know how too mask up properly before going in an riot, get a good experienced lawyer etc etc

Well, if you try it in Bosnia you might get away with it without a problem :D Try assaulting some armed militiaman and you won't get out so luckily...
In Sweden the law is similar like in Netherlands I think. The cops are usually more lenient with the far rightists and quite cruel with immigrants like myself. I got stopped several times by the cops who suspected me of dealing drugs and after they searched me they wanted to know where I'm keeping my stash, so I told them to fuck off. I got charged with assault and a fine :rolleyes:
