As everybody knows, Pannekoek wrote his Workers' Councils while being dismissed from his teaching position by the Nazis during their occupation of the Netherlands. However, save for this reference I have found not much about the specific circumstances of his life and ideological positions during that time. Of course, it is purely historical interest now, but does any Dutch comrade (or any Left Communist) have some information on that matter?

For those who don't know about Pannekoek:

Most of his major work, including Workers' Councils (http://www.marxists.org/archive/pannekoe/1947/workers-councils.htm), is available online.

He also wrote Anthropogenesis during the war. However, I do not think he was actively connected with those Left Communist who remained active during the war, such as the Spartacus Bund etc.
