View Full Version : Is "okay" the most widely used word in the world?

I've been thinking about this lately, as many foreign films that I watch include the word "okay" somewhere, in the exact same way that English speakers use the word, including films from Germany, France, Finland, Italy, Hong Kong etc. I already knew that Spanish speakers frequently used it, and judging from the Wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okay) on it, it does seem to have a very wide usage.

I believe it is, but, unfortunately, cool is climbing the ladder.

i've always noticed that some people use "cool" in serbia.... i have no idea why.

Also in Hungarian, Spanish and, believe it or not, French.
That's as far as I know, maybe a speaker of some other language can confirm that for his/hers own.
