I just didn't tell my parents about taking drugs. That seemed to work okay. I don't think they've found out to this day, even though one time I'd eaten space cakes and on the drive back from my friend's house I talked the most incomprehensible rubbish to my dad. It was really quite embarrassing. But because they're so anti-drugs, they assumed I was under the influence of alcohol.

My parents seemed to have difficulty giving a fuck. They were a bit disapproving of smoking, but I just didn't do it around them (I still don't in fact, apart from when I'm drunk and my Dad's pinching one off of me or something). Last time I spoke the them about weed it was on the logistics of growing it in our loft [a project abandoned swiftly].

Having fun by funding local anti-social criminal elements? Thats number one.
While alcohol possibly is technically more physically dangerous, getting drunk once in awhile is not going to cause the damage that regular use of cannibis will particularly in someone's teenage years.
Plus his complaining about his parent's concern for his health is showing the seed at least of anti-social tendencies.

Oh? What damage is this? The vast majority of people I know used cannibis as teenagers, and as far as I know, none of them have any damage from it. Alcohol is arguably a hell of a lot more damaging as it can leave you open to a lot of dangerous situations, whereas being stoned in your bedroom doesn't.
Plus his complaining about his parent's concern for his health is showing the seed at least of anti-social tendencies.
I get angry at people who worry about my health, but I'm not anti-social. Plus, it's perfectly normal for teenagers to get annoyed at their parents.

In an actually revolutionary situation someone caught using drugs would get a warning, if they perisisted in their behaviour they would get bullet in the calf of their leg, and if that didnt cop on them on they would be exiled from the community. Thats real life. Revolutionary movements historically have taken a very tough line on this issue. You think drugs should legal? Have you any idea of the hell (leaving cannibis aside for the moment) that heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine create in working class areas and the often armed conflicts that arise out of it between locals and the narco-capitalists?
If you want to put your head in the sand about the serious dangers involved with cannibis fine. Recently here up in Derry some degenerate was shot in the legs for selling hash pipes, etc to teenagers. The action was overwhelming supported by the working class of the city (as it should it have been). They cant afford to be day dreamy about such things.
Being annoyed at your parents is one thing. Going online and complaining about them for no good reason for all the world to see another.

I'm fully aware of the issues surrounding addiction, thank you. But I'm also fully aware of the problems caused by prohibition. Most of the issues you mention are problems with prohibition, not problems with drugs. There would be no armed conflicts if drugs weren't illegal. A lot of people who deal drugs do so because it makes them a bit of extra money. I wouldn't blame them for that.
Besides, what the fuck gives you the right to look down on people who use drugs? It's my body and I'll put whatever I want into it.

Well for one, they're not anti-social. If they were, they wouldn't be able to get their product out, and get money for it. Plus, most are pretty sociable people in the first place, before they even started with the "criminal element".
While alcohol possibly is technically more physically dangerous, getting drunk once in awhile is not going to cause the damage that regular use of cannibis will particularly in someone's teenage years.
Tell me something Weed does worse than those who smoke Cigarettes on a daily basis? With Weed, you actually probable smoke less of it on a daily basis, then someone who has the advantage of getting Cigarettes at the local store or whatever whenever they want. Plus, Weed it Weed, they don't add anything into the process of making it smokable. If you know your buyer, it's likely the Weed's just Weed, and not like Cigarettes where you've got Tar, Rat Poison, etc. packed in with the Tobacco.
Plus his complaining about his parent's concern for his health is showing the seed at least of anti-social tendencies.
Are you serious? Weed brings people together. THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE BONGS! I can bet you, that on a 70% chance, if I asked someone if they smoked weed, they'd add they did it with their friends, rather on their own.
You clearly have bought into the stereotypical image of those who smoke Weed.

What the fuck is this barbarism? If someone is handling weapons or heavy machinery while high, then deprive them of access to same. Otherwise, leave them the fuck alone. Hardline tactics are no deterrent and serve only to create an atmosphere of fear.

You have never provided any evidence or arguments in favor of the existence of the alleged dangers. You're the one who's putting her head in the sand as far as I and most everyone can tell. You're basically relying on the "common sense" method of avoiding providing evidence, as if a notoriously brutal, racist, and hypocritical campaign against marijuana makes it common sense that it's bad, so you don't have to provide evidence.

I think your teenage years don't trouble you so much as when you are going through them as when you are no longer a teenager.
Looking back, I think what sucked most about being a teenager is your own idiocy. Seriously, I didn't know anything about anything and frankly cringe re-reading my old essays from when I was about 16. I also did a ton of stupid shit that in retrospect was pathetic. I was obnoxious. Frankly I have nothing but contempt for my teenage self.
Funny thing is this ignorance wasn't, and will never be, a bliss. I didn't realize the mistakes I'd been making until I turned 20. Of course then it was too late, but if you think it's bad when you're still in your teens, wait until you can't go back and start afresh.

OP, being a teenager was the most paradoxical experience of this life for me. The best and worst times were then, as they are now, but with way less responsibility. When you're young, you must strive to be wise, for in old age it is unbecoming to be a complete and total fucking jackass. but don't destroy your good time, trying to grow up too quick....you'll end up not having a sense of humor, like me....
quit the smokes. at a pack a day, you're burning around two grand a year, give or take a couple hundred bucks. after ten years of smoking, i could have bought something pretty killer with all the money i literally burned. Quit the weed when it is time. You will know when that time comes. some of the most interesting people i have ever met have been through the networks that are created by being a part of that subculture....but don't get caught, cause probation sucks and jail is worse. that is to say, don't be lame. Know the time and place to be hittin it up.
stay away from hard drugs. trust me on this. just smoke weed. even shrooms can be devastating to your psyche if conditions are not right.
Just be patient with yourself.....life is extremely unfair and difficult and nothing but an uphill struggle. don't be fooled. if you have any advantage now in your youth, take heed to the lessons you are taught and the wisdom you gain from the mistakes of others.
I'm glad i survived my teenage years...many of my friends did not. theirs was their path to tread, and into the grave was the path they chose....Choose not so foolishly.
Just enjoy life while you can because it really is as short as people say. Next thing you know, you will be supporting a family, scratching your ass at 4 in the morning wondering if you slept at all, trying to motivate yourself to the kitchen to make coffee so you can go bust your ass trying to make a living in a cruel and unfrogiving capitalist society. But you will have fond memories of parties and friends and music and books and sleeping in late and going on dates and making out, and smoking joints with cool people, and going to concerts, etc. etc. etc....

For me it sucked when it was going on, but in retrospect it was about a thousand times happier a time than adulthood has been for me. All the feelings were so much stronger; yes, the negative ones as well but also those of excitement, joy, etc. I very rarely have these feelings anymore at all, at the age of almost 30.
Incidentally, for some reason it's only the positive feelings that have disappeared next to totally, I still have fairly decent depressions regularly.. People are different of course, but I'm fairly sure most would agree that life makes a radical turn towards more boring after the teen years.

I did so many drugs when I was a teenager, now all I do is drink. I can tell you from personal experience weed actually exacerbated my anxiety and depression, but that's because of my unique brain chemistry. Weed is not inherently bad for you or some other such crap, it's just some people shouldn't be doing it, like me.
I'm 21 now and every year just seems to be getting better and better. I mean I'm depressed sure, but I've always been depressed. Some of the nerdiest kids I know are now party animals and the popular kids have faded into obscurity.
Just remember treat life as a series of cycles, not as a straight line. If you get my meaning.

wait what? i meant that talking about health benefits of eating well stoned is silly, and eating before youre stoned is stupid- the peanut butter banana sausage egg sandwich with chips and stir fry and some ravioli and 3 liters of blue gatorade is way better after

Weed has no negative effects.
obviously Palingenisis is happy to repeat total nonsense, but this is likewise not true. It certainly can have negative effects, i don't see the value in denying that. obviously the negative effects are way, way overblown. but most psychoactive substances have the potential to be misused or abused, which tends to be accompanied by "negative effects", and weed is no different in that regard.
