View Full Version : Communism = Social Activism?

I see a lot of people and organizations, especially the now Democrat CPUSA, who equate the words Communism and Socialism to mean "Freedom from Racism" and "Fighting for the LGBT community".

Of course I am not a racist nor am I against LGBT rights, but I see many people who are distorting these words from worker controlled democracy to something an "American Neo-Liberal" (if that makes any sense) would say.

It just seems at another step towards Democrats and Liberals gaining power in Communist and Socialist organizations.

Does anyone else see this?

Neo-Liberalism is a form of economic organization.

Communism is one too, and it is not a "value free" one. Communists, Anarchists, etc. have since ages argued that racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. are byproducts of the capitalist system, and rightfully so. You can't oppose one without opposing the other (although reformists seem to think so).

But yeah, pretty much everyone taking part in reformist processes, especially elections, has questionable politics anyway. This doesn't mean working with reformist elements is per se bad, but it should never become one's main activity.

I never heard them say Communism, but a lot of American neo-liberals talk about Socialism for sure. Now naturally they don't mean Socialism in the true sense of the word mainly that being a Capitalist hybrid. But yeah I know what you mean. I think it is a ploy to get the uninformed people who are sick of being exploited and are fed up with Capitalism to join them. Unfortunately, they aren't pushing for any significant change. Politics is a cruel game :(.

And although many of you may disagree with me, I believe that radical Islam must be punished, as well as any other radical religions.

I have Muslim friends but I disagree very much with people who say Islam is a religion of peace. It is not as with Christianity and Judaism. They all equal slavery and abolishment of self awareness.

Marx said Religion was the Opiate of the people. This includes Islam. And Christianity. And Judaism. The Big Three.

Agreed. Its like people get more involved in this butchered and capitalist influence sense of what Socialism is like here in America.

People become more fixated on trying to denounce everything here in the U.S. as racist or homophobic because they think by tackling that they are getting a victory for world revolution! (Seriously, some of the shit that gets said on here is just stupid. Such as Lord of the rings as being racist, and apparently chess is to.)

Stop trying to fight the effects of capitalism and start fighting against capitalism itself and all of that bourgeoisie bullshit that accompany's it will slowly be rid of itself. (Perfect example to look at is the race relations in Cuba)

I am guessing that people like to look at it like the lesser of two evils, well since Iran talks trash about the U.S., I support them! Who cares if they are a almost worse than capitalist country is!

The same thing for North Korea, oh look, they say they have a workers party and America does not like them, I support them! Who cares if they claim to be for the workers and people while thousands of people go hungry while the same family has been in power now since the creation of the country.

Christianity is more reactionary than Islam due to its closer association with Western imperialism and colonialism in more recent times.

But yes, qualitatively all religions are reactionary, even "eastern" religions like Hinduism and Buddhism.

This is why my only religion is Marxism.

My guess is that you are a white heterosexual male worker. (I could be wrong)

People who are not queer or ethnic minority themselves often fail to realise the importance of fighting against racism and LGBT discrimination, because it does not affect them directly and they are incapable of empathising with queer and ethnic minority workers.

If queer people and ethnic minorities, or women for that matter, are won over to the side of the reformists or even capitalists, then frankly it is not the fault of queer and ethnic minority workers themselves, but it's due to the failure of mainstream socialists and revolutionaries from attracting queers and ethnic minorities to their movement.

I've been to Asian forums which have said that "communism is just a white man's conspiracy to take over the world". Who's fault is it for people to have this kind of impression?

Punished? I agree that it should be abolished but punishment is really reactionary.

Activism is how you do organizing. It's not a distraction, and if you can make things slightly more progressive while getting your message out, good for you.
