Do you know anyone with cancer? What do you regard cancer as?Is it a 'disease' or a degenerative 'condition'? do you think a real 'cure' exists for it and has not been given on the market because those bloody pharmas would loose all those profits??

Maybe not, since you're asking for personal experiences. Here's one for ya:

Who Trusts The Doctors of Society?

I can’t tell you what colors the walls were. Maybe red or deep maroon. I was alone, thus I was observing. The problem was, there were things that kept pushing my buttons, a group of three (graduate?) students, the two “bros” in the corner, a tall woman. It’s funny how misanthropy manifests itself sometimes in cruel but subtle ways. I see a young man and a young woman enter a coffee shop. The young man’s voice was deep, I didn’t think much of it. I am waiting for an hour. I am expecting people to email me. I eat two breakfast tacos and head outside for a smoke. The young man and woman are sitting on a table mostly across the entrance to the patio. Someone mentions cancer or smoking or both. I find the table closest to the two, simply because I managed access to an electric outlet. I light up. A tension sets in across from me. He’s mad, gets up and walks out through the gate. She walks out through the entrance. Oh shit...throat cancer. I put the cigarette out and think. That night I threw all but two of my cigarettes in the toilet. What does it matter, I'll be smoking again tomorrow. I have little hope for myself.

cancer has a cure, it's usually cured.

Three of my grandparents had cancer. Two died from it.

I'm pretty sure that I know how I'm leaving this world.

Well, either cancer has a cure of some kind or it can be slowed to a staggering extent. My mate had a spinal cancer when he was 17/18 (I don't remember) and he's still walking and playing football 6 years down the line. I had cancer when I was 7 and I'm fairly sure that were there not, in fact, a cure or lasting treatment of some sort I would have snuffed it years ago.

Maybe the whole thing is a conspiracy by doctors though and they just sliced into my mate and I to make it look convincing.

You had cancer when you were seven?

There is no cure for cancer. There are cancer treatments that, if the odds work in your favor and they give you enough drugs/radiation/surgery/all of the above, can be effective in bringing the cancer into remission, at which point the physical symptoms gradually stop appearing (even though the cancer is still present). If the cancer goes into complete remission, that means that there are no signs of cancer. Usually it takes years for that to happen.

But yeah, treatments aren't really the same things as cures, necessarily (cancer that goes into remission often comes back). It's the same with HIV/AIDS.

You had cancer when you were seven? Yep. I got a telly out of the make a wish foundation and everything. The smarter choice really, my other wish would have been to meet Mr. Motivator. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr_Motivator)

The distinction between a treatment that brings about a complete remission and a cure seems largely semantic to me.

yeah this is what concerns me......The fact that there's no 'cure' for it.... some conspiracy theorists say that there are cures (some as simple as using hemp oil etc. ) but the pharma industry makes sure that those people are stopped.....
Watch this for example

I'm not sure how I feel about this thread. I have cancer (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma) that is currently in remission, and I would prefer to leave the speculation, hypotheses and such to trained scientists, not potheads and conspiracy theorists with overactive imaginations.

Why do you make all these random threads asking questions?

But yes, my mom had cancer, my uncle had cancer, and my grandpa is currently undergoing treatment for cancer - it's his second time getting cancer. He's a real trooper.

I also know a family friend's daughter has lymphoma and she's maybe 26?

:( won't make threads if you feel i'm clogging up the space....
but i've been getting into debates with other people about what exactly some of the problems that humanity faces are??
For example, i think that Cancer is not a disease that you get out of nowhere (the genetic part is also explainable)... it's a 'condition' where your vital organs or bones etc. have degenerated.....Its almost like degenerative disc disease (which is not a disease also), just a set of easily quantifiable DIFFERENT conditions (bad posture, lack of excercise etc.) that have led to discs rubbing against each other......this was one of the things i wanted to get people's opinion about.....
Also the spiralling increase of let's say testicular cancer in young males aged 19-34 scares the hell out of me.... one potential cause:
1.keeping cell phones in pant pockets
2. keeping laptop on lap
I guess i should have directly asked for how to ward off cancer....we're surrounded by preservatives in our foods, radioation, petrochemicals and pollution......sometimes seems like there's no way to run.....
For example the ORGANIC fruits that they market are still grown in fields with crappy fertilizer, no??
