If you haven't read these two pieces give them a read when you find the time. The first "War is Racket" was written by a pro capitalist Major General Butler after his experiences in the high ranks of the US military. The second "The Great Madness" was written by a communist by the name of Scott Nearing who was active in America in the early 20'th century.

The sad thing is, these two men rightly critiqued our military system almost 100 years ago but it remains the same till this day. What a sad fucking fact.

EDIT - Can't forget Zinn's contribution , a chapter from Peoples History which should have been titled, "War Is The Health Of The Market"-

Sad indeed.

Unfortunate too. But, Americans are still blind the MIC.

Like Orwell said at the end of Homage to Catalonia in refrence to the British, "...will only awake when the sounds of bombs roaring wake them from their slumber..."

or something to that effect, I dont have book on hand, unfortunately. ;)

I do however, feel the same about Yanks.

Smedley Butler, author War Is a Racket is one of the most fascinating people in US history. Not only did he write this little book, but he helped to thwart a fascist plot in 1933-34.

Read all about it:
