Dave Zirin is probably the most interesting person writing from the ISO today. I follow him fairly closely and always appreciate what he has to say. His books are pretty much all worthwhile and teach you a good deal about how sports aren't just reactionary bread and circuses.

Of course, he happens to like the Mets and the Jets - at least it's not the Yankees and Cowboys, I couldn't deal with that. (I'm mostly a hometown guy so I root for the Phillies and, although I will not admit to being a "fan", the Eagles.)

I just read a bunch of his articles. This guy is one of the more interesting sports writers I've ever read. As for his being a Mets fan. It makes me love the guy even more. graymouser are you still confident about the Phils? I think theyll comeback but they may have met their match.
