At first I thought I was going to have to drive really far, but then I noticed that they're organized alphabetically by city rather than by state. So Hurray, I'll be attending, somewhere hicky:)

Man, the south is going to be the new center for labor struggles someday, so I bet when the next labor upsurge happens we'll all be envying our allies and comrades who live in the "red states" down south. And liberals will write books like: "What's the matter with California: Why are people there so conservative" - (OK, I know Kansas isn't the south, I just couldn't think of a Southern version of that book).

Here are two articles, each in a different series of what the ISO Marxism Day Schools are going to take up.

Marx's theory of working-class revolution

In the first part in a series on "The Revolutionary Ideas of Karl Marx," Alan Maass, author of The Case for Socialism (http://www.haymarketbooks.org/pb/The-Case-for-Socialism), looks at the building blocks for Marx's view of the world. This will be a session at Marxism Day Schools (http://socialistworker.org/marxism-day-schools-2010) taking place around the U.S.

The roots of racism

In the first article in a series on "Socialism and Black Liberation," Lance Selfa explains the origins of slavery at the dawn of capitalism and the ideology of white supremacy.

Can the working class unite?

Jen Roesch looks at where ideas like racism and sexism that divide workers come from--and how the working class can overcome this obstacle to unity and solidarity. This topic will be a session at Marxism Day Schools (http://socialistworker.org/marxism-day-schools-2010) taking place around the U.S.
