If I remember correctly,
It's about some sort of alien disease/bacterium/etc they find in what appears to be a crashed space-craft in Antarctica that turns people and animals into monsters. At some point a few of the surviving researchers get their shit together and try to survive and fight their way out.

There's a video game for it. The video game is increasingly hard.
