View Full Version : Does Anyone Feel Like Posting Their Rep to Posts Ratio?

¿Que?
7th October 2010, 04:23
Mine's .38. Which is pretty pathetic.

But you guys are just a bunch of arrogant snobs anyway. Nah, just kidding, you guys are ok.

So, if you feel like showing off your mad reppage, post your ratio here. Remember to put your rep in the numerator, and your post count in the denominator. I find this is better than the other way around in that probably everyone will get a number less than one. The closer to one your ratio is, the more people like what you post!:)

more likely Un posts quick short posts first at the OP before anyone else and posts sectarian news most.

I mean, we could all have amazing rep if all we did was post witty one liners as the first reply to topics and news from socialist websites

not that that's what anyone does....

Yes, I wanted to do this. I have some basic understanding of stats, and could even correlate it with other variables such as gender, geography and even tendency. But I don't think I have enough responses for that yet. Maybe I'll do an average though, sometime tonight. :thumbup1:

Question: Would it be higher if I didn't have an infraction (i.e., are infraction points deducted from reputation points)?

I was going to take an average, but then it occurred to me that we're not even considering rep power. Now rep power is something I don't necessarily understand. I've seen people with little rep but with high rep power, and I've read explanations of it before, but I still don't quite get it.

Anyway, how should we take into account rep power? The first step to answering this question is to ask, what are we trying to measure? Rep to posts ration basically measures your likability level. It doesn't really say anything about how good your posts are, just that people tend to like them. It is also worth considering, as some have noted, where most of the rep is coming from, although that's just too much of a hassle to even consider.

But rep power says a lot, because it is basically a measure of how important your input is. I may be taking this thread way too seriously, at this point, but I'm havin' a good time, so if anyone wants to enlighten me on any of this, please don't hesitate.

My rep power is 7, whatever that means. (Doesn't it just mean that when you click the scales to give someone rep it gives them that many points instead of just one?)

I'd say there's no way to take it into account because you don't know how much of a person's rep was given through thanks or through the actual rep system. Besides, I don't see how it matters unless you want the ratio to represent thanks per post instead of rep point per post. I think thanks per post would be more interesting, but it's practically impossible to determine.
