There has been anger in Australia over a newly released video which shows an unarmed Aboriginal man being tasered 13 times by police officers.

The incident occurred in Perth in 2008, and has been released as part of a report on the use of taser guns by the Western Australian police.

The state's premier said the video had damaged the reputation of the force. (emphasis mine)

that last line i quoted is a real kicker. nevermind that they were excessively tasering a man, people knowing it happened has damaged the force's reputation. poor, poor police.

I hate police. They get away with crimes all the time. One tase should have been enough. They tased him 13 times and they only got fined?! Thats ridiculous. Those officers should get charged for murder.

Tasers are pretty terrible; to a lot of cops they almost seem like toys that they can use to abuse people with little consequence. But its hard to argue to many people that the taser is a bad thing, because when you do that it gets compared to lethal handguns.
