Yeah, cliche'd question, but seriously, what do you, Revleft, think is the true meaning of life, and our purpose? What is the meaning of our existence? What is our purpose? Why are we here? It can be from a religious or non-religious perspective.

I, personally, think the meaning of life is simply to coincide with and help our fellow man, and prosper peacefully and equally as a species.

Well, that depends on what you mean.

Well, that depends on what you mean.

Not sure if you can make it less general, but here.

What is the meaning of our existence? What is our purpose? Why are we here?

You'd have to explain what you mean by "meaning" and "life". Regardless, "what is the meaning of life" is literal nonsense.

To further the sectarian cause.

If you want a proper answer I guess you'll have to explain more in depth.

There is no meaning to life outside of what meaning you choose to create.

Life is meaningless. Each individual can make meaning in his/her life, but needs to remain aware that no matter how much they put into making their own meaning it is still inevitably meaningless.

I heard this somewhere:

"Our purpose is to make known, that which is unknown..."

"There is no design to life
No God up in the sky
No wonderwall to climb
Nor step around."

I define meaning as whatever motivates action, and whatever gives you an incentive not to commit suicide. So there isn't a singular meaning. There are a lot of things that can constitute the meaning of your life. Love, Pleasure, Money, Freedom, Equality, Sex, Knowledge etc.

Why does life need to have meaning?

Not sure if you can make it less general, but here.

What is the meaning of our existence? What is our purpose? Why are we here?

These questions practically contain guidelines for providing answers.
If you ask "what is our purpose", you are implying that you do think there is a general, universal purpose, one that is graspable by human mind.
So, my conclusion would be that your questions are flawed?

Instead, try to ask yourself "Is there an universal purpose to human life and entire existence (everything that exists)?".
And remember that "purpose" as a notion is, originally, related only to human actions.
My conclusion would be that there is no universal purpose to human existence, there is no meaning to the biological evolution except the underlying inherent laws which are being dealt with by biologists.
There is also no meaning, no purpose to human history, although we can discern regularities, developmental trends and tendencies.
To suggest that there is a universal purpose would necessitate a conclusion that a higher power, such as theists' God, exists.
To my knowledge and power of reasoning - such a thing does not exist and, more importantly, there is no way to provide solid evidence for its existence, if you believed that it exists in the first place.

The solution of the problem of life is seen in the vanishing of this problem.
(Is not this the reason why men to whom after long doubting the sense of life became clear, could not then say wherein this sense consisted?)

Google for the "Theory of Greatness"

Perhaps it will give you an answer.

I'd say we we sort of ''blessed'' to have a life (no, I'm not religious). We just have it. How ''we were chosen'' to be born, we don't know. We don't know how there are different ''souls''.

It is us humans that want to give a meaning to life, because I don't think there is any. The meaning we give to life depends on our personality and tastes. We only thrive to do something in life because we are still part animal.
Without the material part, we are just a ''soul'', or ''conscience'' (whatever you want to call it). Without the material world, and what's connected to it (our body, necessities like hunger, thirst, and our tastes for art, politics, etc, and our animal instincts for survival, etc) our ''life'' would just be the existence of our conscience, and quite boring infact.

It is matter that is the salt of life. I hope I made myself understood.

I'm really surprised no one has said it yet.
