A car bomb has exploded outside a bank close to a shopping centre in Londonderry, causing substantial damage.
The device, placed in a Vauxhall Corsa car, exploded shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning at the rear of the Da Vinci retail complex on Culmore Road in the city, near the University of Ulster.
Police said a warning had been received an hour earlier and a cordon was in place when the device went off.
It is believed no-one was injured in the blast. However, substantial damage was caused to the retail complex and the car.
Police at the scene of the explosion have now evacuated a wider area, including dozens of homes, businesses and a home for the elderly.
Drivers are being warned of major traffic disruption in the morning. Police are asking motorists to avoid the entire area, particularly the Pennyburn Roundabout.

All the articles just say it was at a retail center at the moment, but allegedly it detonated right outside Ulsterbank

Will post more info as it becomes available
