A web site on myspace.com is trying to organize an anti capitalism day on may 1st. for people to organize a chapter locally, then have a march on in DC on may 1st. Sound like a great idea, to get all the commies together for a rally in DC, this will stop us from trying to worm our way in the demos of the democrats, or march in their bull shit watered down, reformist co-opted labor day march.
just go to www.myspace.com (http://www.myspace.com) then type in "anti capitalism day".

Most actions (actual actions) generally take place around may 1st and not on it. I think that we need less planned days of action, less planned marches and less publicly planned everythings and more spontaneous actions- street demos- marches etc.
What people don't seem to realize in my area is that we can take to the streets- with flares, banners and whatever else- and we can march and we can get arrested and charged with petty shit that will be dropped because the police don't want the paperwork for simply clearing the street. The problem arises when there's a bullshit sidewalk march- and for whatever insane reason people want to exert all time and energy into breaking one window. Then nobody wants to exert any more.
A militant and confident march in the street is way way way way way way way more significant than a sidewalk march with petty peripherals.
Edit- However- the march should take the street if it's going to happen and if the numbers are significant. I'd like to see specifically anti-capitalist marches in some of the larger cities on the 1st. I'd like to see a bloc with a couple thousand people in it- in black- with decent banners that don't look like a preschool project. I think both coasts could pull it off but there needs to be a shit ton of planning and organizing starting like right now- today-. I'd be willing to make and distribute flyers on my own. The PNW could use a lively event like such as there has been a lot of complaining about people not taking the streets.
It's sad to say but it's true that if there could be a collective understanding that the march remain lively but all affinity actions cease during the march- the turn out will be much much much much higher. I am not a peace activist but I wouldn't expect actions to take place at a friend's BBQ-or at a neighborhood block party. Diversity of tactics doesn't mean there has to be a specific tactic at every event- there needs to be a clear goal for the march such as- let's see what kind of numbers we can pull into the street. Use it as a research project of sorts to figure out how and why we had the turn out we did- and go from there.

I would go armed. Rounding up a bunch of revolutionaries together in the capital of the empire sounds like a good opportunity to "fix the problem" in the eyes of the bourgeoisie.

I totally agree, which is why I would be willing to work my ass off to get a few thousand people to turn out on the east coast down at DC or New York. I have really, really grown tired of going to marches, rallies with these democrat reformist shit heads, listening to these bull shit lying union bureauracts and politicians. I'd love to see a march with nothing but commies over running the down town area of a large city. And I love the title "Anti Capitalisim Day".This will keep the librals and the democrats away.

This is true. It's already happened. Coxey's army is a shining example of capitalist brutality towards a frustrated working class.
But on the subject of a march. That would be very good, but I'm not sure how many leftists could be rounded up considering the fact that they are quite marginalized in this country, and I doubt we would get much media press considering that there are already the anarcho-cap / liberal/ Stewart Colbert marches already. Let's make every day a anti-capitalism day.

We don't have to march to see capitalist brutality, Just look at the poverty, forclosures, evictions, layoffs, destroyed neighborhoods, communities and lives, increased heart attacks, strokes, mental breakdowns. the march is in response to the above. so what do we do, march with a bunch of librals, listen to bullshit politicians and sellout labor bureaucrats, or do we continue doing what we have been doing for years, and that is sitting in little rooms, debating theory and impressing each other with how much built up knowledge we have.or do we finally go out, together and show the people that there is a more humane way to live, and encourage people to fight back.
