Decided to go to the One Nation thing in DC. Me and a friend of mine drove for 14 hours and got there at 5:30 in the morning. The drive felt even longer cause I was high. After getting to the motel room we were sharing with a bunch of people from North Carolina I got probably an hour of sleep in total. As a favor to the people that let us stay in there room my friend and I helped them pass out copies of Fight Back(ewwwwwwww). I spent the first part of the "march" handing out papers, laughing at the "socialists", and getting preached to by some Marxist-Leninist about the "failures" of syndicalism. I then hung out with some punk kids that I think considered themselves anarchists(not really sure). One of them was kind enough to share some food she pulled out of the dumpster(I didn't have much money). At the end of the day we smoked some weed and drank some whiskey. My friend and I started driving back to Alabama at about 11pm and didn't get back until after noon. I met many many walking stereotypes at this march and had a lot of fun, but it was so fucked.

Sounds like an interesting experience.

Not surprising, but fucked indeed it is.

The title made it sound worse than it was.
Come to Australia and tell a socialist alliance (or alternative) member you're an anarchist, then see what happens.
You could be:
1. a (gender or national) chauvinist
2. anti-semitic (cuz da farda of anarki wuz lyk agunst da jooz, Bakunin)
3. Against the third world/labour aristocrat
4. liberal
etc

All for being an anarchist. It's amazing.

Although having no money definitely blows.

Who?
4th October 2010, 04:10
Sounds like you had a pretty good time, were there a lot of fellow SDSers at the march?

Getting the opportunity to troll Leninists, smoking weed/drinking whiskey, and hanging out with crusties. Sounds like fun to me.

Getting the opportunity to troll Leninists

"getting preached at", to be fair, isn't really "trolling".

getting preached at is certainly annoying

Lol, I felt pretty miserable when I got home from not sleeping all weekend. Foot rub would be nice. My feet are sore.

Well, that was one of the nicer people I ran into. Only groups I trolled was CPUSA and a few Social Democrats.

Yeah, there were some. The whole group I hung out with were members of SDS.

Yeah, but he had the opportunity to. He needs to brush up on his IRL trolling.

EDIT: Up, nevermind, he trolled the CPUSA. Good on ya lad.

Were there hipsters?

There were a few. They didn't really do anything. I saw a group of them hanging out underneath a tree talking about, what I assume was, hipster things.

Art show is totally over. Stand out side prisons shooting off fireworks and blaring Lady Gaga through a PA in a shopping cart every day.

Hipster.

I've never met a hipster here in Australia. I don't think the term is even in usage here.

My guess is Melburnian hipsters gravitate closer to the city center and around the more affluent inner suburbs - places I very rarely visit.

Considering what we eat keeps us healthy and alive I would hardly consider it 'hipster'. How can you take care of others when your own diet kills you?
