Gosh I really like this. When I was much much younger, as an idealistic pacifist-liberal, I would sit in my room listening to Slayer, Nile, Morbid Angel and Necrophagist. How times have changed. But anyway, I guess I am just revisiting this kinda music (I know hardcore and thrash or death metal aren't the same) but they for sure have roots in similar kinds of bands and whatnot. And the culture of moshing etc. surrounding them is quite similar.

Anyway, enough rambling, I really like Gallows at the moment (and they're playing just down the road from here later this year!), but can anyone else recommend any other hardcore bands? (I also like Dillinger Escape Plan, but not sure about categorization etc.)

EDIT: I will mention though, I think the breakdown is often a very cheap musical tool that sounds really good, but can be soooo easily. However, the way Gallows "breakdown" is usually a lot more creative than shitty bollox like Bring Me The Horizon or Enter Shikari or any of that sort of nonsense

I've never heard Gallows before, and just listening to those three songs, they sound kinda boring. Of course, most hardcore bands live and die from the live show, so i guess it doesn't really matter what the recordings sound like.

saw these guys a little while ago, don't know if it classifies as normal hardcore though, but the show was massive.

They easily had one of the best live shows I've ever seen.
