Who was the greatest Marxist-Leninist leader of all time? Lenin in my opinion, everyone who came after was either genocidal or totalitarian. Or both.

That's a bit of a loaded question. Its like asking "what is Stalinism and how do we fight it?" You could rephrase this and ask who was the most important and/o succesful Marxist political leader? Then you could include Gramsci, Bordiga, Trotsky, Tito and many other important people.

Agreed. You should include Che as well.

Stalin. He sent all the counter-revolutionaries to Siberia so he's got my vote.
EDIT: Since when was Lenin an ML?

I like how theres only actually 2 Marxist-Leninists listed. And Mao's Marxist-Leninism is sometimes questioned, so I guess there's only one named candidate.

Have you seen the film "Mission To Moscow"? Actually the ruling class was not all that scared of Joe. Underneath it all hey knew he would put a break on revolution outside the Soviet Union.

Thats the reason he is put forward as as evil as Hitler if not worse by them and Trotsky is pushed as this sweet idealist?

Actually I've never come across anything favorable written about Trotsky outside the left. There's been constant condemnation of him. The Service bio is only the latest example.
The lives of Stalin and Trotsky play much different roles in historiography.Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union. A collectivized industrial economy was heroically built but at fearsome human cost. Trotsky represented another direction the SU could have taken. Worker's democracy and a revolutionary foreign policy would have been important parts of this alternate path. The Soviet Union would still be here today and I would say our planet would be much close to socialism.
Think of the enormous cost and heroic sacrifice of the Soviet peoples. What happened to this and why?
A small number of Trotskyists became neo-cons. the idea that Trots=neo-cons is a myth originally promulgated by the racist right.

I once thought that too. Except his version of workers' councils were arranged in a hierarchical fashion with bureaucrats and whatnot, along with the bullshit that is market socialism.

Technically, Lenin could not have been "marxist-leninist" since it is a historical term coined by Stalin. But yeah, I would chose Lenin if the poll wan't based on "greatness".

Come on.... Bukharin in that photo looks like some perpetual geeky student. Look at Comrade Stalin afresh....The roguish glint in his eyes sparkling out of their sorrow and compassion....The assuredness in his posture that also lacks any arrogance...The strange combination of gravitas and playfulness where neither are diminished by each other....Just imagine those hands moving up your spine...Looking at a photo of Stalin sends shivers through me. I find it strange that any girl would feel differently.

This reminds me of when motionless said that he and his girlfriend slept under Stalin's "watchful eye" every night (because I guess that he has a giant portrait of Koba hanging in his bedroom or something). As if you needed another reason to steer clear of Stalinists...

I don't really understand why someone would vote for anyone else if the question is "Who is the greatest Marxist-LENINIST lead?". But then again, Lenin shouldn't really be there since the tendency is named after him. Kind of unfair.

Because Marxism-Leninism is the term for the ideologies of Stalin, Mao (well, his ideology was derived from Marxism-Leninism), Hoxha and anyone else unimportant.

Young Djugashvili ,okay. He looks like my stereotype of an anarchist. When he was older he looked like a brutal gangster. I don't see Joe having any affairs with beautiful, intelligent Mexican artists. Didn't Koba drive Alliluyeva into suicide?
It seems some people quite literally have a Stalin fetish.

I am not sure Freida could be called beautiful....But Comrade Stalin was fundamentally moral...Thats part of his sexiness...The straight forwardness that is evident in his expression.
You keep looking at him through eyes of capitalist propaganda...Pretend you just arrived from Mars or something and know nothing of earth history and look at him afresh.

Because when I look freshly into the eyes of a perverted, domestically abusive, duplicitous pedophile and snitch for the Tsarist secret police, whose henchmen murdered more communists than any fascist regime, enriched themselves at the expense of the proletariat and stabbed the world revolution in the back, I see fundamental moral straight-forward sexiness.

Sometimes you really sound like a working-class fellow in the United States who still enthusiastically supports the Democrats even though he's out of a job, he has no health care and his only son has died in Afghanistan.
You stand in the wreckage of the international communist movement, brought on in large part by 'comrade' Stalin's massacres of millions of workers, either by his own hand(the Purges and the murder of communist refugees) or the criminal sabotage of revolutions that threatened the Soviet bureaucracy-Shanghai 1927, Barcelona 1937. The collapse of the Soviet Union was due to many things, but if I had to choose one individual who bore responsibility for the world remaining capitalist in the 20th century, it would have to be Stalin.
That you engage in almost orgasmic adulation of this man is pretty baffling.

What is with the emotional anti-Stalinism?
Maybe its connected to the fact that he had thousands of people murdered and that he has since become a cult figure in the imaginations of ahistorical leftists youth who annoyingly quote his insane rantings and model their politics off of a defeated state supported propaganda system.
