Hello, my name is Ross Ninel. I am a 14 year old from Occupied Ireland (Commonly referred to as "Northern" Ireland) and want the 6 occupied counties to be united with independant Ireland like quite a lot of Irish nationalists. My perhaps "favourite" left branch would probably be Marxism, but I feel I have much to learn, this is either because I actually do or because I doubt myself quite a lot, either way learning more will boost my political confidence.
-Thanks for reading my introduction ;D

14? Well cool, most people that age are horribly unpolitical!
Welcome :)

Welcome :)
How do you view international unity? Marxists, while very much aware of national questions, ultimately strive towards international unification as a more unified working class is objectively a progressive step. How would you view unity in a federal republic of the "British" isles for example?

Hi, i was A LITTLE BIT political when i was 13, but was uninformed and thought Denmark was a socialist country, my turn-around started when i was 15, the moment i first discovered RevLeft, first bothered to register now when i had questions, now there has gone allmost 1(really soon) and i am happy of the information and laughs i have gotten here. Hope it happens to you too. :)

Q, I understand somewhat of what you mean, but could you perhaps elaborate on International Unity, it's a term I haven't heard of before.

He means the unification of the proletariat across national boundaries, recognizing that nation really doesn't matter because workers are all workers, regardless of nationality.
Ex. Workers of the world, unite. That pretty much encompasses the meaning of the term.

I could add to this a bit. Most Marxists would believe in a united Ireland based on working class solidarity. The British used religious sectarianism to get workers in the North to go against their own class interests. This backfired on the British bourgeoisie however.
Class solidarity would be the path of Connelly, not Sinn Fein. The CWI has put out some interesting literature on this.

Hey welcome. You'll find quite a few fellow irish here and many others who support the Irish peoples' struggle.
Is that your real name in the OP ? If so, RevLeft has a policy of not allowing info such as real names.

hey, i'm from west belfast and joined this site at about the same age as yourself. that was 5 years ago now. you can learn a lot here, some good some bad. i heard about certain schools in the west refusing to allow students out to the protest last thursday, my own brothers got out despite threats of expulsion and the like.
there's a discussion towards the next belfast demonstration this evening (monday 13 december) from 18.30 in the peter frogatt centre at queen's university. it's mostly aimed at school students like yourself. this is the facebook event - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=154812404565363&ref=share - if you don't have a facebook account i recommend setting one up, even if it's an alias just to follow events like this.
anyway, welcome.
edit: http://comhdhailpoblachtach.wordpress.com/ - this is the queens socialist republican congress that some friends are running, they were involved in the protest on thursday and it carries a good acount of the day.

Hello, and welcome.
I became politically active about '99, so I would have been 13 or so, but I must admit I didn't know what the hell I was on about.
So don't feel shy or bad if you have questions; here I am now, and still don't know what I'm on about.

welcome, i started reading about this stuff about your age and then active around the age of 15 and didnt really have a clue about much of it - i still dont alot of the time tbh :D its an ongoing process of learning and think its a bit much to expect a 14 year old to understand all of these complex theretical questions lol, thats not to be patronising if he/she does, but I dont understand a lot of them and im 22 lol :) so dont worry if you dont get what people here are going on about is all im saying
