pathetic but true..
stumbled upon Malte's che lives forum in Sept 2000 by doing a che search. Introduced to the internet about 5 minutes before! (despite my user date which was due to a big blow out with the user/ahole RAF.
Y2K/2000 -- short story:
There were only about three or so regular posters (and a few others from time to time) who posted for about a year during the Clinton presidency/pre-Bush2 elections--- keeping the forum Alive!
Yo! You know who you are!
Mengistu.
Badger???
(Red Celtic -- posted there too!)

I've been here for almost 6 years. Hard to believe.
You're still the grandpa around here, obviously. So kudos to you.

I think my 5 years is pretty long, but really, people who've been here since 2001-ish put me and lots of other active posters to shame.

god you people are old.
By internet standards, yes.
Solidarity: Are you Y2K? Used to be restricted? Crazy.
Edit: Disregard that last part, I was thinking of YSR.

I was 6 years old 10 years ago :blushing: And yeah, what Wanted Man said, apart from it's more amplified with me; everyone who's been on here for about 2 years or more makes me feel a bit inadequate, if you know what I mean.

I think the word "drama" is overused around here. Expand your vocabularies.

People are talking about the early days of this forum... If memory serves, I remember Che-Lives.com before there even was a forum associated with it. I used to visit the site periodically in like '98 and/or '99 looking for left news and what not and then quit for a couple of years. I came back in late 2002 to discover the IkonBoard Noxion mentioned... Lurked around for a couple or three months before actually joining. I guess I was 24 when I joined, 32 now aka so old I used to kick it with Moses in internet years.
EDIT: As an aside, I think this place has been over the years most useful in terms of rejuvenating my passion for left politics. There are times when I think it's more trouble than it's worth and I just wanna give up. Then I come back here after a prolonged absence and see 16 and 17 year old kids running around the place and I think to myself, "Now what kind of example would it set if you just quit? Think of the children!"
