According to information we received, Bangladesh police have killed two people said to be leading members of the Communist Party of East Bengal (Marxist-Leninist) (Red Flag), also know as the Purba Bangla Communist Party Lal Pataka.

On 5 September, the Rapid Action Brigade (RAB) announced that they killed Abdur Rashid in what they claimed was a raid on a party meeting in a village in the Pabna District of Rajshahi Division. Rashid, 52, was said to have been a prominent member of the PBCP trend since its birth in 1968.

Then on 9 September, the RAB reported killing a comrade known as Titas in another village of the Rajshahi Division, in what they also claimed was a shootout. Rajshahi is in the countrys northwest, bordering India. The police reported the arrest of several other people described as PBCP members in September and August.

The RAB has killed hundreds of people in what are described as encounters with revolutionaries over the past few years.

This is nothing new, several regional leaders of the PBCP-ML Lal Pataka over the past few months, as the PPW has escalated there. PBCP-ML Lal Pataka is one of several Maoist groups/factions in Bangladesh, but appear to be the most active. Another Maoist, though not a leader, was killed yesterday for example. This time they say it's due to factional infighting in the PBCP-

Outlaw slaughtered in Jhenidah

Star Online Report
A suspected member of outlawed party Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) was slaughtered allegedly by rivals in Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenidah early Monday.
Police arrested another suspected PBCP member Haider Ali Monday morning in this connection.
The deceased was identified as Chand Mia, 35, of Kutidurgapur village in Jhenidah Sadar upazila and a human hauler driver, but police claimed that he was a PBCP man, reports our Jhenidah correspondent.
Police suspected that Chand might have been killed over an internal feud of the party.
Officer-in-Charge of Jhenidah Sadar Police Station Sagir Miah, said a gang of PBCP led by Kuddud Ali of Ashwasthali village, waylaid Chand at about 1:00am while he along with Haider was returning to his home from Kotchandpur riding on a motorcycle.
They picked up Chand and locals found his body at a nearby field in the morning, the OC added.
On information, police recovered the body around 7:00am.

Let's hope the Maoists can unite so that they can 1, become stronger and 2, start using a less awkward name.
