The supposedly liberal and moderate Zionist Alan Dershowitz is literally pwned by Noam Chomsky and Norman Finklestein.

Finklestein is stone cold in his slashing of Dershowitz's arguments. Damn, I probably would not have been that cold, but then again I am too nice sometimes. Dershowitz looked like a clown.

Aw man, and here I was hoping to see a Chomsky/Finkelstein tag-team match against Dershowitz!

Anyway, I didn't get through all of Chomsky's debate since it was kinda boring, but Finkelstein's is brutal. Dershowitz is getting curbstomped! :D

EDIT: Just finished the Finkelstein debate. Good god, Dershowitz is an absolute snake. He constantly tries to change the subject or introduce red herrings, interrupts Finkelstein at every turn (when Finkelstein is courteous enough to let him speak all throughout), tries to hog the mic and attempts to talk and talk and talk for as long as he can, and then insults Finkelstein as an envious extremist. Finkelstein was right to call him a fraud and a joke.

Finkelstein's debate should be the textbook example of how to absolutely destroy neoconservative talking points.

Dershowitz is amazing at what he does, so it really is a thing of beauty to see him get demolished like that.

The story sadly did not end well for Finkelstein. As Chomsky put it, Dershowitz went on a Jihad against Finkelstein after that.

Yes, Finklestein, with all of his brilliant research skills and what not could not get tenure anywhere in the States.

Chomsky warned him but Finklestein bravely pressed on.

At one point, there was even a campaign of people writing to Finkelstein's landlord to get him evicted.

He can probably scrap out a living for himself with books and occasional speaking engagements, but I imagine the lack of a stable Professorship must bug him to no end.

He was denied tenure at the university that I go to, the very year I came in as a freshman. I had already read a few of his books and was looking forward to being one of his students, and one of my best friends had him as a professor. Even the students who didn't agree with his political positions said that he was a good teacher and was fair to students regardless of what your positions were, as long as you were reasonable. Being active in my campus chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, I have met him a few times, the last time being when we invited him to speak at a nearby Presbyterian church, because Finkelstein is FORBIDDEN by the administration to speak on our campus. Even then, we had to move the venue because another neighborhood church backed out of hosting him becaue he was too 'controversial'.

Finkelstein doesn't seem to phased by what happened to him, really. The fact that his parents were survivors of the Nazi death camps helps him put his personal problems in perspective.

Dershowitz is an utterly degenerate lying sack of shit. The lowest point was when he claimed that Finkelstein's mother was a Nazi collaborator, by diliberately misquoting one of Finkelstein's essays! He posted this outrageous slander on his Harvard faculty webpage, and he recieved no reprimand or anything. And yes, it is plain as day that he plagiarized his book, but who can blame him? Defending Israel's actions toward the Palestinians and being a honest scholar are mutually exclusive behaviors-because as Malcolm X said "Truth is always on the side of the oppressed'.

For laughs, an edited clip of the Finkelstein-Dershowitz debate interspersed with Bruce Lee clips. Hilarious:

A lot of the "birthright" trips to Israel, actually give away both copies of Dershowitz's books. Books that, with no sense of irony as far as I can tell, introduce the author as a top criminal defense attorney.
