Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that his party will win 2/3rd majority in the next general election.

The Maoist strongman also insisted that other parties are conspiring against the UCPN (M) fearing the party sweeping the next general elections and that are trying to send the party back to armed war.

Dahal was speaking at a programme organised at the Maoist headquarters Peris Danda, Koteshwor, to welcome a group of leaders and cadres from Nawa Janawadi Morcha that joined the Maoist party.

Describing the recent 3-point agreement with the UML as a positive development, he informed that the UCPN (M) would start dialogue with the UML and the Nepali Congress to resolve the deadlock over the election for the Prime Minister.

According to him, talks with NC leaders would begin as soon as the ongoing general convention of the NC is over.

Furthermore, saying that the term of the United Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) was extended thanks to Maoist initiative, Dahal described the extension as a step ahead in the peace process. nepalnews.com

I know many leftists from Nepal who think the Communists should just seize state power already, enough with this parliamentary election riff-raff.

There are plenty of UCPN (M) cadres and supporters who think that way. It's a complex period, I have no idea where they're going next.

I don't get this rift in the party. I know the more radical elements are with Badya, correct? How does Prachanda stand in this?

Well Prachanda, from what I've read, stood with Baidhya on the return of a People's War, though it seems that an opportunity had arisen where the Maoists could form a 2/3 majority win in the next coming elections. I'm sure the actions being taken are of majority vote through the party. If this was purely not out of the interests of the party, we'd be hearing about it by now.

Best of luck to them, if they have to fight let them win quickly, but hopefully they can gain more power through this new constitution peacefully.
