Bert is an old comrade of mine. He's a very funny guy. Here he is in his younger days, with a board game he invented that is still available.

And here are some bad jokes of his.

Lol I love how he pulls out a piece of paper and advertises. Freaking sweet dude, you can tell he didn't even want to talk about the bull shit about giving that douche Hannity a C+, he wanted to go on FOX, bash it, and tell people to go to a place with real news. :thumbup1:

I love how Hannity thinks throughout the video that Ollman is there because of him. I honestly don't know how people can be that self-important.

It's pretty funny how Hannity tries claiming that Fox News is open minded because they allowed Ollman to go on air. Though, fact of matter is that we can clearly see that the only reason he was allowed to go on air was to try & demonize the Professor for giving him a [not so] bad grade & for being a socialist. If that's being open minded, then Fox must be the most open minded news organization on the air.

There is an element to where the devious practice employed by Fox to demonize left wing dissidents works. I knew nothing of this man and felt that he came off rather sloppily but that is probably due to being berated by Sean the Gorilla and the idiotic questions by Alan Colmes. I mean you're put on the spotlight and told, "ok here you go, here is a platform now shoot". It can be quite never racking and knowing that you've been put in that situation for the very reason of making you look bad, could make matters even worse.
I could only imagine being ready to confront Hannity in debate and having all my notes ready, etc. only to have the camera on me, the hostility all around and then be berated by Hannity with BS and illogical questions. I would be like a deer in headlights.
The method employed by FOX is ingenious and downright diabolical. They can make Michael Parenti or Noam Chomsky look like a crank.

So they've obviously turned Hannity's mic up a lot louder than Ollman's mic.

Hannity just seems butthurt he did badly in his class and just finding excuses for it.
Didn't he drop out of University anyways? I guess he'll say Universities were liberal marxist socialist communist hell holes and didn't' appreciate him.
Hannity went straight to buzzwords and didn't fail to disappoint- "Redistribution of Wealth", "Do you not believe we have to fight Islamic fascism?", or "Do you think America is a force for good?" for example.

"Do you think America is a force for good?"The best answer to that question, IMO, would be to look at the questioner and  at his face; implying what an absurd question that is.

He did do something of that effect most visibly when Hannity asked him about the fight against "Islamic fascism". The professor did a bit of repressed laugh.

I'd look him in the eyes and say "No". Then Hannity will ask why, to which any half-decent leftist would be able to unleash a barrage of examples describing the barbarity of US foreign policy.

If you can even get that far.

They'd cut you off and then ask "so why do you enjoy eating babies and torturing cute little puppy dogs?".

They'd cut you off and then ask "so why do you enjoy eating babies and torturing cute little puppy dogs?". That's why I suggested laughing because it's mostly a waste of time explaining anything to people who clearly only like to hear the sound of their voices, like most Fox News talk-show pundits.
Plus, it is an absurd question. What do we mean by America? Are Americans good? The American government? What is meant by good, good for whom?

I actually do think Chomsky would do well when interviewed on Fox News because he'd break down the questions to what you've just said.

Chomsky said it best in the doc Manufacturing Consent. It would be as if you were speaking Martian on Earth to go on national TV and started explaining a situation in it's entirety. And he was speaking of the mainstream press, not even a right wing cable network like FOX.
I mean could you guys even imagine Matt Lauer or any mainstream liberal journalist understanding our analysis of things? Now picture Hannity or O'Reilly understanding them! Not even close.
Point is. There is no room for real discourse in the US because it's not set up for it.
Ironically, the closest thing to real balanced talk ever on TV was William F. Buckley's old show where Noam Chomsky handed Buckley's ass to him on a silver platter.

Are you kidding me? Hannity is most likely trained for handling leftist questions like that.
The point is, and Chomsky said it himself, that there is a framework already set up for these shows. People who tune into Hannity's show already understand the framework, as do people who just tuned in.
To have Chomsky on would make him look like a crank. Chomsky would ask those questions you listed but Hannity would fire back with, "America sir, duh, the people and it's elected representatives" and then regurgitate a whole host of platitudes that would EVEN ALSO be regurgitated by liberal journalists if also pressed by Chomsky.
Right Wing FOX only represents an EXTREME version of the regular mainstream press. One that filters all criticisms, when the mainstream press filters some especially when it conflicts with owner interests. FOX is ideologically bent to the right, that it's mantra. The mainstream press is not ideologically bent in any overt way, it just presupposes certain things that organically eliminates any sort of criticism deemed too "extreme". Remember Chomsky's explanation, "thus far but no further". FOX News would be, "not even thus far, cut it out entirely".

If you take a look at any Fox News program that invites individuals on the left you will clearly see that they are set up to be mocked, ridiculed and demonized for their political beliefs. We all know their intentions are not noble.
Take a look at what happened to Sam Webb. He was invited to the Glenn Beck show for an interview and constantly he was denied a platform (I myself do not like Sam Webb.) When he would attempt to explain his views, Glenn Beck would reply with strawman arguments and interrupt him. Such questions as "Name me the Communist country that worked." Etc.
If Chomsky theoretically was allowed on a program such as the Glenn Beck show. What do you think would happen? He'd attempt to make an argument and then he would be interrupted or asked ridiculous questions that would be hard to answer without playing into their hands.
Typically there are two types of individuals that tune into Fox news. The viewer that does not agree with them, but wishes for a good laugh regardless (Tis why I personally watch Glenn Beck.) and the individual that wants to be fed more right-wing nonsense because they themselves are right-wing. They are the types of individuals that only hear what they wish to hear. Even if Chomsky made good points they would simply be ignored by the viewers.

Oh, that's hilarious - I saw that game in the Marxist library in Berkeley, Ca!
This one's pretty good:
Boss to employee: "Young man, you have risen very fast in this company. Two years ago, you began as an office boy. In a couple of months, you were a clerk. Then, you became a salesman, after that assistant manager, then manager. Now you are the vice president of the company. What have you to say about all this?"
Employee: "Thanks, Dad".
And this one too:
Student asks his principal, "Where is my teacher?".
"Citywide layoffs", replies the principal.
"My text books?" asks the student.
"State austerity plan", says the principal.
"Student loan?" continues the student.
"Federal budget cuts", says the principal.
Finally, exasperated, student asks, "But how am I going to get an education?".
To which the equally exasperated principal replies, "This is your education".

I thought this one was pretty good (less funny, more smart):
A young girl asks her father, "Why is it so cold in the house?"
"We don't have any coal", he says.
"But why is there no coal?", she wants to know.
"Because I lost my job", he replies.
Still unsatisfied, she asks one more time—"And why did you lose your job?"
To which he answers, "Because there is too much coal".

Ollman was amirably polite . . . it took Hannity about two whole minutes to start talking over him Fox Pundit style. That kind of rudeness infuriates me even when I don't have a camera in my face, and Ollman just stopped talking and leaned back, like a true badass.
Hannity's little "I got a C in my class for thoughtlessly regurgitating conservative talking points AND that's what's wrong with our education system" thing is utterly pathetic. No, there's no higher meaning here, Sean. You're just whiny.

I just saw Ollman around NYU a few hours ago.
