Friend came back from Ireland and said she was surprised with how popular Che Guevara was. Apparently, the older Irish generation go on about Guevara's Irish roots and how she would see murals to Che.

Is this true? Do Irish people see him as a bit of hero.

I am not just talking about Irish youth but the older generation?

Eh, it's the usual line of not really understanding what Che stood for.

I have seen a great many Che murals in Northern Ireland and the west, not so many in Dublin, Irish Republicans adore him.

Yea hes kind of a big deal among (left) nationalists over here, I think theres maybe 3 Che murals close to where I live.. I think the image most people have of Che is him dying young, 'fighting' on behalf of the oppressed against imperialism which resonates with a lot of people over here for obvious reasons.
