I don't know how I came across this video, but in any case I did, and thought I'd share it - parts are fairly hilarious.
There's one Cuban punk kid in here who repeatedly says "This country is a shithole!" "They want to keep me down, man!" "I'm gonna get on a raft and leave!" etc. Then at the end he says "We are doing everything possible to cope but the repression in this country stifles us!" and then some guy off-camera yells "You liar!"
Maybe you guys won't find it funny, but that scene pretty much made my day.

Lol, it was funny. I think punk everywhere is about "the man" keeping you down. Being a punk in Cuba is far nicer than being a punk in Saudi Arabia I bet. xD

I don't get how it was that funny. They're punks, some punks (and some non-punks) vaguely talk about "the system" (though one of them seemed fond of Che Guevara).
Is it funny when non-Americans and non-English people are punks?

No, but it's funny when they're complaining about Cuba and some passerby yells "You liar!"

If punk gets popular enough, I wouldn't be surprised if the Cuban government sets up a ministry to promote the genre (they did the same for hip hop and other artforms that were getting widespread in the country). Real "repressive", huh?

I dont see what's so bad about them, they seemed like regular working class anti-capitalist punks to me. I think the part where they talk about the police harassing them is telling, what the fuck kind of socialist country has cops?

When I went to Cuba I took a load of guitar strings because hardly anyone can get any there and has to use telephone wire, gave it to some musician/artists we hung out with on the seafront in Havana, they gave me some beer so it was all good.
Don't think they really liked punk though, they just sang Lenny Kravitz a lot... which was a bit lame.
On the police thing though they were always hassling us at night for hanging out on the Malecon playing music and drinking beer, they seemed to always think the Cubans were robbing us and kept moving them on. To be honest I reckon thats more a reflection of how dependent they are on tourist money and worried about tourists getting scared away from the country more than anything else. That being said they pretty much acted like cops I've seen in any other country.
