Hey, I just got a new PC, and since I don't wanna lose anything on my ipod, what programs that you recommend for transferring files? I tried a few but they're not free or incredibly inefficient (like making me transfer every single song manually). I have 11 GB of memory on a 160 GB classic. Help?

I think you're gonna wanna use iTunes for that.

Very exhaustive. I had a program once, but I don't remember the name... didn't use my iPod in ages.

When you plug a USB cable between the iPod and the computer, I thought the iPod showed up in "My Computer" as a drive, displaying folders containing files.

I think they removed that functionality on the newer models mike, atleast on the iphone and the ipod touch. I usually use a ftp program when I need to transfer files.

On nonmacs those are made deliberately incomprehensible by anything but itunes or a reader like that. There are several open source alternatives to itunes now btw, many which function on PC.

Are you saying that my iPod has an IP address that I can FTP into? How do I find out the address?

Now that I think about it, it needs to be jailbroken as well to enable it.
