Thinking of joing the IWW - any advice?

After several years of being a member of this website, and becoming an admin, I've decided that it would be a good idea to join an organisation, and the IWW was the first one to come to mind. Does anyone have any general advice or pointers that they feel might be useful to a potential member of the IWW in the UK?

Check out a local General Membership Branch in your vicinity and see what they're up to. Tell them you're thinking of lining up and what to see how the branch is run first. That's what I did when I joined the New York City GMB back in 1974.
