Under capitalism untold amounts of unsold food is left to rot and unbought clothes destroyed. These two neccesities could be givin to the needy the world over, yet, the bourgeoise won't allow such an event to come to pass.
My question: Does anyone know any handy statistics that show, on average, how much food and clothes are destroyed in a single day?

No, but don't forget the food turned into industrial products and fuel.

I don't think capitalists keep record of how many much-needed goods are thrown out because it isn't profitable to give it to the poor. It would make for a very bad business idea.

IIRC, the documentary we feed the world (http://www.we-feed-the-world.at/en/film.htm) documents this phenomena
