I've seen Adidas stores in Havana as well as United Colors of Benneton. There is Spanish, Canadian, and British money in Cuba. Newscorp is investing in NK.

How do these States control foreign investment? How do they block any added value on their investment? Added value being the surplus they extract from workers?

"The authorisation of investments in Cuba is a faculty of the State. There are two organs empowered to grant authorisations: the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers and a Government Commission appointed by that Council, according to the case."
-Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs

It appears that in Cuba there are 400 ventures but each have to comply wityh the state.
