Hello everyone.

I am a 24 year old college student from Oregon. I have a somewhat eclectic views on politics and as such I really do not align myself with either the left or right. I see those as being two sides of the same coin and believe all politicians are full of shit.

My primary reason for joining this forum is because I noticed that there is a section devoted to Anti-Fascism. This is my primary interest. As a long time member and supporter of both Anti-Racist Action and the AntiFa movement in general I am looking for others in my area to network with. I know many people who share my views but I am the only one who is willing to "get my hands dirty" so I am not looking for anymore armchair AntiFa.

Welcome to the forums. While you do not show allegiance to either the right or the left, I think you should know that ARA and Antifa are left-wing and that racism and fascism are right wing. So maybe this will make you think a bit more about showing some sort of a position. I suggest you hang out in learning to learn about left-wing politics since that is the primary purpose of this site. :)

I am well aware that ARA and AntiFa are left-wing and that racism and fascism are right wing. However, like I said, I have an eclectic mix of personal beliefs when it comes to politics. For instance, I am a strong supported of gun rights which is normally associated with conservatives but I am also a strong supporter of a woman's right to choose which is seen as being liberal.

Simply because I am not willing to paint such a label on myself does not mean that I do not understand politics - on either side. I am quite informed so please don't make assumptions.

If you are a fellow northwesterner (particularly from Oregon...the Aryan Nations new head quarters is in John Day, and the volksfront boneheads are piling their filth unto Portland and Vancouver), I would advise caution.

Openly searching for people on an individual basis online to meet with, especially now with the certain regional law enforcement and their white power allies/informants (white power = same as white pride) tends to carry a high risk of getting people hurt.

Antifascists not aware should know the basics. Individual and very small group meetings, especially those carried out over the net = high risk of attack from infiltrating boneheads, and moderate risk of being shut down by police. Best to meet in medium to large groups if you are meeting at all, unless the meeting is with people who share your views that you meet otherwise in real time (school, work, etc). This has been something that Sharps, Antifa's, Union supporters, immigrant advocacy groups, LGBT support groups and minority advocacy groups have been practicing out of safety concerns for some times now. For new or curious folks, the best route is to keep your ear to the ground. Youll eventually hear about marches/rallies/protests sponsored or supported by antiracists and antifascists or anti-righties and anti-corporatists. Show up and youll start hearing about meetings, concerts and whatnot.

added question - I agree with your stance on guns. Any antifascist or antiracist or pro-equality individual should know his or her way around a firearm (nothing scares right wingers more than a liberal/progressive/minority with a gun), but I must ask what are your disagreements with socialism and communism? I am not saying I agree or disagree. I am merely curious. Its extremely rare to meet libertarians or pro-ultra capitolists who favor anti-racism movements or anti fascism movements. Often, the previously mentioned are either in favor of or endorse racism and fascism/corporate-fascism (though they legitimize it as 'natural' or as some sort of 'affirmative defense' fallacious reasoning).

I am wondering, politically and economically, what motivates your disfavor for fascists and racists?

Last I heard the Aryan Nation plan to move their HQ to John Day was shut down. I've had some run-ins with Volksfront in the past but I survived, obviously. They (Volksfront) have had to move more underground ever since they beat to death that homeless Schizophrenic thinking he was a drug addict.

Thanks for your concern but I am well aware of the risks involved. It is not as if I am going to jump right at the chance to meet with the first person who claims to be AntiFa or a member of ARA. Yes, people will get hurt but that is to be expected.

Yes, the problem is, however, that isn't really working. I constantly check the Rose City AntiFa website for info on upcoming demonstrations, meetings, shows etc. but to no avail. I have also tried contacting them via voicemail and email in order to raise awareness about increasing Fascist activity on my college campus but have not heard back. It sucks being the only one at school willing to stand up against these assholes but if I have to stand alone then that is what I will do.

Aside from the fact that they could never work in practice (there will always be greed) I believe that humans need to incentive to progress forward. If I bust my ass for 12 hours a day at work and make the same amount of money as the lazy fucker who does a half ass job all day I am not going to want to work any harder. And why should I? There would be no motivation to do so. People like to complain about the problems that arise from division amongst economic classes but complain is all they do. I am of the belief that if you do not like a situation you are in then you either actively work to better it or you shut the fuck up about it and deal with it. I am a poor college student but I don't blame my problems on "the rich". I am going to school so I can get an education which will (in theory) better my chances at getting a good job and improve my quality of life.

I believe in judging people based on the merit of their character. There are plenty of reasons to hate people; the color of their skin, religious or sexual preference etc. do NOT qualify. I see racism as a detriment to the evolution of the human species. I am not a fan of the conformity that Fascism breeds nor do I like the idea of "all for the state". Furthermore I am of Jewish decent, not a member of any religion personally but I had Jewish relatives flee Europe prior to the Holocaust. Had the Nazis succeeded in their plan I would not be here today. So when I see people who are pro-Fascism, I take it personally.
