Sorry If I spelt the wrong type of "bourgeoisie" but I'm concerned that ill get labelled this term if If I learn a trade by the academic students in the university's. My main concern is that I'm diving deeper into politics and don't want to be caught out in debate.

The petite-bourgeoisie are the "small" capitalists. I've generally heard the term applied to the self-employed and really small business owners.
Edit: It has also been applied to those holding professional careers, but I don't think that is very accurate as many doctors and lawyers fall into the same employee employer relationship as the rest of the working class.

Hmmm? I'm not trying to direct anything negative towards the self-employed. It is simply the meaning of the term.

lol don't get me wrong It's just the lefties that have the whole inferior complex that pisses me off. for example: they'll have ago at me because I don't think that Jonathan Zerzan is part of the Social revolutionary Left.

They are a class that employs workers, but also works. For example, someone who runs a small bookstore and hires two employees, but who runs the cash register would be petit bourgeoisie because they both perform labor and buy labor. PBs often sympathize with the bourgeoisie, but get fucked over like the proletariat in times of crisis.

The two main classes in the capitalism are the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. The layer in between encompasses from landlords and CEOs (managers that have the effective control of the enterprise but not its property) to small business owners and even security guards at the order of the managers.

fa2991 is basically correct. Although Marx does not use the word "petit-bourgeoisie", at least not in the translation on MIA, he does refer in Das Kapital to "small masters", who hire wage-labourers, but who can't live off the surplus-value produced by their workforce, and therefore also have to do work themselves. I think there is an unfortunate tendency to lump the self-employed in with the traditional petit-bourgeoisie, whereas the former probably belong to a class of their own.
