A lot of republicans deal with these people, the organization started as a union busting organization, ended up as an elite right wing church that believes that capitalism is "Gods will" and that the capitalist elite should be the ones that control things.
This explains a lot on why the right wing elite are alway super capitalist along with fundementalist "christian." This is really a sick, discusting perversion of christianity, simply an attempt to christianize corporate power.

"God comes to him (the founder of this organization) in the person of the president of US Steel."
Now that's a Capitalist religion! :D
These guys are also responsible for the "death to gays" pending legislation in Uganda.

While this is fucking disgusting, it doesn't mean that anti-capitalist christianity is any better to be honest.

This organization is really scary. One of their projects has been spreading their extreme version of Christianity to other countries through missions and so forth. Uganda, in particular has been a laboratory for their beliefs. This has inspired a tide of fundamentalism resulting in the brutal persecution of homosexuals and there is pending legislation to make homosexuality a death penalty offense, which carries significant support. Here's an article from the Times; http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/04/world/africa/04uganda.html
There's another great article in this months' Harpers.

Well it is not like it makes any less sense than Christianity itself.

Well it is not like it makes any less sense than Christianity itself.
Actually, the emergence of Christianity, as well as many of its core values and stories, make a lot of sense.
The god-gave-me-a-baby story is very common and the story is always a backdrop for the worship of some 'demigod' or similar such entity. It is believed that there were hundreds of stories just like Jesus' around his contemporary.
Furthermore, the specific tales in each holy book have real relevance to human concerns - everything from economics (descriptions of good charity ratios, the employment of land) to health (eating and cleanliness habits) and philosophy ("if I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am for myself alone, what am i? If not now, when").
It may not be completely clear how to interpret the ascension of such ideas, but its clear that they come from particular thoughts and societies which had their own integrity for following certain trends and models. You really shoot yourself in the foot when you discount whole swaths of our human history just because you don't feel like investing the time to understand what we know about it.

Interesting group of people. I was listening to Hannity whilst driving through the California Valley and he had a reformed Negro talking about how he saw MLK Jr.'s message and the Christian Ethic as getting for yourself and then potentially spreading the wealth if one wanted too. He said that socialism was slavery, and he encouraged his people (that is, those of the colored persuasion) to join him in fighting back the terrible wickedness known as redistributive economic policies. He is making a movie.
This interesting merger between capitalism and christianity is profoundly interesting. I'm sure some sociologist will write a book about it.

Seeing the black people on Fox news is interesting, they always get their black guests to say the most outrageous racist things.
Anyway, MLK was a socialist, he called himself one, and christian socialism was probably of second most importance to him, the this guy is full of it. As for the Christian ethic, maybe he'll take some time to actually read the principles of the bible.

Its not at all suprising, its been used by the ruling class since the Roman Emperors, its no merger really, its just a propeganda tool, as marx said, the opiate of the people.
