So you dirty bums whats your style..

Mine personally would have to be hardcore. How can you go wrong with 1 min songs at 300 beats per minute; proper dancing speed.

Edit:I didn't add Crust because I personally have a strong distaste for it and I forgot all about it.

I guess i should have added an "other" choice.

Noise/lo-fi/garage-punk because they are the more psychedelic variants of punk. I voted psychobilly... but that's oh so 90s:lol:

What's cow-punk?

I guess i should have added an "other" choice.Heh-heh. Yeah asking punk-rock fans to pick one of only 12 different choices... too narrow, no one is going to agree on any of them:laugh:

I guess your right, it all depends on the mood I'm in on what I prefer, even 20 choices would be to much but I just chose the more common choices to narrow it down.

What's cow-punk?

Its punk rock mixed with a bluesy/country/folk sound

Pronghorn and hank the III perfected it.

Are there any gypsy punk bands that are not gogol bordello ??

nope :D

Personally I love protopunk, it's got just the right amount of rock 'n roll pomp in the mix, and that confrontational attitude we all love in punk rock. The genre is genetically engineered to make you feel cool :redstar2000:

Pop punk because it's the least pretentious/annoying.

Don't like it? Too bad. This is what happens when you effectively decriminalize pot in Oakland.

It's all just the rock version of this, stupid dumb and hip hop punk rock:

Honestly, very few punks like only one kind. Shit sometimes just gets old, and you move on to something else without ditching the original stuff you listened to entirely.

Those are not anarcho-punk bands. The Casualties and Exploited are street punk, and Black Flag is hardcore punk. Anarcho-punk is like Flux Of Pink Indians and Crass.

I don't particularly like anarcho-punk though, the lyrics are stupid and the music is boring. Hardcore punk is my forte (though I like others, particularly pop-punk like The Queers and Screeching Weasel).

Hardcore punk, definitely. Also post-hardcore (and screamo).

Tbh I find Anarcho-Punk a very dumb genre term, as it is slapped on a lot of bands simply because they have somewhat Anarchist themes in their lyrics. Unless anyone wants to argue that The Ex, Crass , Chumbawamba and The World/Inferno Friendship Society actually sound alike.

Lack of Folk Punk is disturbing, they have some of the best leftist bands =(

The differences aren't that obvious to hear, especially due to somewhat shitty quality of a lot of records, but they're not small either.

I can tell the differences pretty easy, tbh. If you get into the genre it's easier to tell the differences, a lot of people can't tell metal genres apart either if they don't listen to it either (same goes for pretty much any genre with subgenres).

I would go a mixture of Hardcore and Ska.
They're both really interesting and good to listen to.
A lot of hardcore for me, is too hardcore ha. Which is when I turn to Ska :D

On another note, how is ska a subgenre of punk? Ska came long before punk, and aside from some 3rd wave bands there has never been any sort of punk influence in ska whatsoever.

3rd wave is what I meant. Operation ivy, The suicide machines, and Sublime.

I was hoping y'all would know that's what i was talking about so i didn't have to get all technical.

No, the other way around - ska music influenced certain punk bands.

Hardcore and more melodic hardcore acts, some D-beat as well, especially those from Scandinavia. They regularly tour the north of europe and play shows at local punk venues around my hometown. Always great shows, despite me being more into metal and not that into the Oi/classic kind of punk music.:thumbup1:

I chose hardcore, but I actually like most subgenres especially riot grrrl, postpunk, protopunk, ...

And GG Allin is more a kind of (lame) transgressive act then a genre of music.
