I guess it goes both ways to some extent.

There is the element of white collar workers "looking down" on manual labourers, sure, but there is also the element of manual labourers "looking down" on white collar workers for not being "proletarian enough" and "not manly enough" and stuff like that.

In either case there is really no need to bring Trotskyism into this. Aren't you just being sectarian now?

My associating trotskyism with white-collar occupations is based on real-life observations.

From an economic perspective, many "white-collar workers" are technically just as "proletarian" as manual labourers.

Sure, it's wrong for anyone to look down on another section of the working class, but "white-collar workers" are hardly the only group that is doing that. Unfortuately today's working class is far from being in unity. People discriminate each other on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, gender identity, profession, cultural background and income, often in both directions.

"Proletarian status" is determined primarily by economic basis, not by "culture". There is no singular "proletarian culture", nor is it desirable for there to ever evolve such a thing at the expense of democratic diversity.

Where did I say they weren't?

I wonder why you are especially picking "white-collar workers" out though.

True, some "white-collars" discriminate against other layers of workers, but it's not as prevalent as you think.

Aren't you contributing to working class disunity by deliberately pitting two groups of workers against each other like this?

Ok, it's Chit Chat so perhaps it's not meant to be so serious anyway, but I just don't see your point to be frank.
