I had wanted to see that movie since it came out. My friend warned me that it was gonna be a bad idea...but like the dick I am, I got another friend to download it while we were hanging at his place so he had no choice but to watch the terrible thing unfold with the rest of us.
That movie was fucking disgusting. I mean, DISGUSTING. I thought I was ready for it because I had seen the trailer and had a few months to process the plot, but no, I wasn't.

I loved that movie! Seriously. I don't even like horror usually.

I think it's hilarious that, to my knowledge, this is the only movie that Roger Ebert didn't give a rating to. Not "0 stars," like Freddy Got Fingered - which I thought was an instant classic - just no rating, period. Basically, "you already know if you'll like it or not, so why bother even giving it a rating?"

This is from months ago. Get with the times brah.
I haven't seen it, and I don't intend to. I like horror films, but anything involving consuming disgusting things like feces is a no-go for me.

I seriously loved the doctors affection for his work. Was so good and hilarious and heartwarming and cruel.

Yeah that was actually kind of brilliant in a twisted way.
And the actor who played the doctor is so going to be typecast from now on.

I made a thread about this film a while back. I honestly didn't think it was that disgusting...they could've made it a lot worse if they really wanted to. The surgery scene for example was only shown in passing...maybe I'm just jaded because of all the demented crap I've been watching lately.

Ebs is kind of an asshole (especially when it comes to rating horror...anyone who doesn't like The Hitcher '86 and Wolf Creek doesn't know too much about the genre, IMO) but I actually think that he's right when he says that The Human Centipede exists in a world where "the stars do not shine". His overall impression of the film is not exactly negative, in fact.

I don't really like gory horror movies. I prefer ones where the is more suspense than 'check this dude get his intestines pulled out his bellybutton".

Gore movies like Saw and shit aren't scary, they're just gross and made for shock value. I remember watching the first Alien movie with my friends as kids, scared the fuck out of me. The film just made this awful, claustrophobic atmosphere where you're stuck in a cramped space ship with an alien who will fuck your shit up that seemed like it could be anywhere anytime. When I watched the first Saw movie, it only gave me an immediate reaction of disgust because there's nothing deeper than "people getting mutilated". I am still hesitant of looking into boxes and stuff head first because of Alien.

Exactly.
Also, slasher movies are so horribly predictable it's boring.

Saw it last night. It wasn't scary at all in the least bit, but still entertaining. The Japanese guy is fucking awesome "The Japanese possess enormous strength when back into a corner!!!". I like movies like this and Saw a lot because I like the view it gives into the depravity of people. And this movie really wasn't gory at all, the filmmakers did what any truly good horror/slasher/thriller filmmaker does, they let your mind "fill in the blanks" so to speak, thus making it scarier, though in this case, I still didn't find it scary, but I don't know if that was even the intention, not that that matters anyway.
