I, personally am a big fan of these old hulks of Detroit iron.
Anybody else on here got an appreciation for these classic cars?

There used to be an annual car show minutes from where I once lived. My dad always brought me to those, thus I gained somewhat of an appreciation for vintage muscle cars. However I will be terrible conversation in this topic because this was about 8 or 9 years ago, and have since forgotten everything there is to know about them.

The 60's and 70's had the best cars.
Dodge Charger
Dodge Challenger
Chevy Chevelle
And my personal favorite:

Don't they have suspension from the Iron Age, thus giving them inferior ride comfort to a shopping trolley?

No idea, never been in one. You could also always get a better suspension put in.

You shouldn't post pictures of your penis in Chit-Chat.

GTO. Hurst 4 speed; posi-traction; 389 cu in displacement; 3 "deuces"-- 2 barrel carburetors;and those very cool Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires with the red groove around the circumference.
These were street racing cars, not built for 24 hours at LeMans or Sebring, or rallying. You put in heavy-duty shocks, filled the tank, and found out who could go 0-60 the fastest.

I have always fucking LOVED Detroit muscle.
Oldsmobile 442 W-30 is it for me, with the 'Cuda 440 coming in at a healthy second.

Buick GSX mofuckas. And NoXion, yes, you're right, but in America, we like to put enormous engines into cars and drive them straight forward, so it was a non-issue.
And nice dick, bro.

People who say muscle cars are just compensation for small penises are just compensating for their small penises.
Except for Corvettes. They're nothing but penis compensation.
My neighbor had a '66 Mustang, but he left it to sit in his yard so long, it is nothing but a pile of rust, so I insulted his wife.

Power is good, but so is the ability to take a corner well.
I mean, take the Zonda F:

It looks bonkers and goes like stink.
Or what about that apotheosis of the internal combustion engine, the Bugatti Veyron:

It has a 8-litre W16 engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W16_engine), for fuck's sake. Only something nuclear-powered would be as awesomely engineered.

The Veyron got its own back (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/04/bugatti-veyron-16-4-super-sport-sets-land-speed-record-at-267-81/) recently.

That's all swell comrades, but we're talking street racing cars here... car that an 18 year old in 1966 could afford to buy, and then rerig to blast the crap out of all the other 18 year olds and their rigs over a quarter mile.
GTOs, 442s, Chargers, Challenger, Chevy with a 409. Ford's 7 liter. All in all, Dodge-Chrysler made the best power plants. They never quit. Owned a Charger, years ago. Got hit head on at 50 mph by a drunk being chased by cops. Crumpled the car up so bad the headlights were in the passenger seat. After I was able to account for all my body parts being where they are normally supposed to be, I got out and looked at the mess that used to be the front end.
The motor was still running, and quietly. I tuned that thing like a fucking Stradivarius.

I think most of us were born after 1966, so I fail to see the relevance. Four our (or at least my) generation, and for those of us living outside the US, the cars are different.
Of course, this assumes that one can afford a car in the first place.

Indeed. But the subject of the OP was muscle cars-- that would be US autos from the 60s and 70s...
