911tabs is kind of a portal to a bunch of different tab sites so i would point you there. Just put in the Artist or Song name and you should find everything you need.

P.S. Prepare to tune very low. ;)

Not to sound douchey or condescending, but a great way to make yourself a better player is to not use tabs, but rather to try to figure out with just your ears what the bassist is doing. Not only does it train your ears, but you also learn to listen to stuff differently and you'll find as you go that it gets a lot easier to decipher what's going on. But tabs are still awesome for stuff that's more complex or when you just feel like learning it quickly.

yeah i thought of that, but im still at the ultra-noob stage of guitar playing.
all i know how to do is read tabs and make sure to put my fingers in between the frets

i want to be able to d othat though because half the tabs i see online suck anyways. or maybe i just suck. either way.

Find a song that you like.

Briefly look at tabs to identify the scale (easiest if you have the song on Guitar Pro).

Learn to play the scale using Wikipedia.

-> narrows down your search a lot.

But yeah, I never do that. Tabs are a great, fast way to start out training your finger work, which IMO is most important at the start.

You have to spend a lot of time practicing good technique, but man oh man ear training is absolutely invaluable for any musician. You just can't beat having a great sense of relative pitch.

There's nothing wrong with downloading tabs and (even better) tab books, though. Nothing is more satisfying or encouraging to a new musician than to be able to play some actual songs. In addition to that, you should snag some bass technique books and videos. And take an interest in great bassists from a wide range of styles. It's okay to focus on a style or two that interests you most, but if you want to be a kickass musician you invariably have to expand your musical horizons.

a personal bass hero of mine is Geezer Butler from black Sabbath. the intro to NIB was what got me into bass in the first place. i een learned a bit of it.

les claypool is also someone i respect although ill never be able to slappa tha bass like that.

Brilliant bassists, for sure. Les is just in-freaking-credible.

Talk about slappy, Koga from Gacharic Spin drops my jaw. I no can linky yet, but if you google Gacharic Spin, one video result is the song Lock On (a neat little J-Rock number) and another is Koga's technique video. It's in Japanese, but holy freaking hell that girl knows how to play.

Tal Wilkenfeld is another one to check out. Wow. 23 year old girl who plays with the likes of the Allman Brothers, Chick Corea, Jeff Beck, and Herbie Hancock. She gots some skills.

Seiji Kameda, the guy who plays bass for Tokyo Jihen and Shiina Ringo, never fails to knock me out.

My favorite Bassist is Kathy Coppola, though for reasons entirely other than her Bass Play.

Other than that, I'm somewhat a fan of Charles Mingus. As far as more modern stuff goes, Adam Vass (La Dispute), Jesse F. Keeler (Death From Above 1979) and Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Mars Volta) are definitely up there. And Les Claypool of course, though I'm not much a fan of his music.

You can see the Japanese music industry's heavy handedness in the sound and imagery. Very JPop cutesy in the presentation. I've noticed that the Chinese have been paying attention, and you see it in the music of, for instance, Yao Yao. Kiki Hu Ling shows a more Western dance club influence, which is not at all unusual for Hong Kong. I was kind of taken aback at BoA's latest release. It's so... American. WTF?

On the other hand, my own musical tastes range from cutesy pop to industrial to punk to alternative. I'm all over the map.

I know on ultimate guitar, there are a few Pelican and Cult of Luna bass tabs that seem to be correct (not sure if they fit your definition of fun though...). Ha, but anyways, my personal favorite bass player is the guy from Saetia.
