I wasn't sure if this (http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=403577&src=110) story was appropriate in this section, but decided to put it here.

The images need to be made public- otherwise it's just another story. Glad to see (according to the article) that the photos were shown in Mexico.

my heart breaks every time i read about incidents like this.
I don't know the facts about the border area and the violence that seems to be so epidemic there, but i do know that there is a brand of chaos down there right now beyond belief. It's highly suspicious in some ways.
What could possibly be a realistic solution to improve the conditions in that area of the world? Any ideas i imagine usually involve some sort of counter-violence that i just can't see as helpful....
Parts of Africa also endure some of the worst types of tragedies in the world and my heart breaks for the people there as well....sometimes i feel a sort of first world guilt when i read about these things in my air conditioned, carpeted, electrically lit apartment. Not that i think it would do much good to throw myself into poverty and give up on the work i do and the direction i am going, but it certainly reminds me to live more simply and concern myself less with frivolous things.

It doesn't matter if you're a first world activist coming from poverty and are not 'stable' or if you're a first world activist that has been middle or upper class their whole life- it depends on the individual person- the insights and observations made depend solely on how that individual's brain works. Don't feel guilt.
On the other side I think some middle class activists could use a heavy dose of poverty for about a year for the first time in their lives. Perhaps some lower income activists could use some luxury?
My main question, in areas that are supposedly controlled by a government, police forces and military, why is this shit happening? I'm not naive- I understand how it works but really? How can hundreds of people be dying like this? I agree that something is 'off' here. I'd like numerous other articles if possible.
