Hugo chavez announced the expropriation of 11 farms remaining to the British el vestey group which trades in venezuela under the name agroflora. The government reached a deal to take over the company and compensation as according to the constitution will be made in several stages. This follows on in the footsteps of the takeover of 2 farms in 2005/6 which belonged to vesteys at El charcote farm and San pablo in Cojedes state. The takeover was due to the companies low performance on the farms.
The eleven nationalised farms include

Canafistola
Palmera
Matapalo
Arapalma
Turagua
Los viejitos
Benedicion ramera
The deal involves 120,000 head of cattle and 5,300 buffaloes
