I went to americansocialistvoter.org as I was wandering around websites, and was disturbed to see Nazis like Jeff Shoep and George Lincoln Rockwell listed under "Uniquely American Personalities of Socialism." Also on the front page is listed the major left-wing parties active in the US. Sandwiched in between the Freedom Socialist Party and the Party for Socialism and Liberation is the National Socialist Movement. Confused, I sent an email to the site admin and got this back


This website was not designed to be a left or right, but rather for all those who confuse one with the other. Watching the news daily we can all see symbolism from the left to right being wrongly used and misrepresented. ASV is an educational non-partisan website that show all the groups out there using the term or method of socialism.

By exposing what we have in one place it opens people to learn about the different ideas and to speak or understand how or why they work or have come about.

This is even more confusing, because of how insanely absurd it is. All over the front page the website claims the following;


American Socialist Voter is about YOU, the postmodern Socialist and contemporary socialism.


We are an educational and interactive grouping network geared towards peaceful, progressive, and radical works

In direct contrast to what the email stated. Is this a website run by Nazis trying to appeal to the left like the "national anarchists" that showed up at the anarchist bookfair? Anyone have information about this website?

This site, iirc, is run by a confused group of social-democrat types. In fact one of guys who contributes to this network of sites used to post here and got into a nasty personal feud. Seems to have an overblown ego, as he lists himself as one of the "Uniquely American Personalities of Socialism". He's listed second from the bottom as a Christian Socialist.

No one has to pick a type of ideology as long as it is within the socialist spectrum i.e. democratic socialism, social democracy, Christian socialism, social libertarianism, national socialism or any brand of non-orthodox Marxian limited messages.

It's pretty bizarre that they consider Nazis legit socialists. I think only someone who is a Nazi sympathizer (or worse) would make some bullshit website like that. It is frustrating enough to have to explain to people that socialists don't want to repeat the type of regime of Stalin, but Hitler too? While I have noticed there is right wing media propaganda which says that Hitler was a socialist like us, the only other time you see people claiming nazis are socialists is from nazis themselves. A true comrade will not hate you for your skin color, national, or religious origin.

There are links to conservapedia and an explanation about how "Christian socialists" need to resist the evils of cultural pluralism and stop anybody in American from speaking anything besides English. There's also a link to moralmoney.com which apparently lets people invest in corporations that label themselves Christian. This "Christian Socialist" website even has a link to the NPI, the right-wing, white-supremacist, bastard version of the Southern Policy Law Center. The NPI tasks itself with fighting against the "attacks on Glenn Beck" and exposing the terribleness of affirmative action.

Are these people trying to fool someone, or are they this seriously confused?

Some nazis will claim that they follow their own unique brand of "socialism" that includes private property.* From my experience they are outnumbered by the ones who just recognize the misnomer while worshiping the Third Reich and calling themselves "white nationalists" instead of nazis. Not all "white nationalists" are nazis though.


*Hitler himself claimed this at one point, then regretted the "socialist" label altogether.
